Welcome to this week's Novel Support Group (NSG). Anyone can join. If you're new, tell us a bit about who you are and what project you are working on. Feel free to update the NSG Work in Progress thread with your current projects. Although we can report on any number of things, here is a list of suggestions (suggestions welcomed).

  • What were your goals last week and did you accomplish them?
  • Describe what you worked on.
  • Set goals for next week.
  • Did you learn something during this week?

Here is a list of things that you can do each week as we work on our novels (suggestions welcomed).

  • Writing on a novel
  • Characterization
  • World Building
  • Relevant research

Last Week's Goals

Work has me busy again as they want me to go through some training so I'll be busy with that. So, what I will likely do for the next several months is concentrate on some old outlines I wrote many years ago. I have a large box (on of those large boxes holding reams of paper) full of old printouts. So, scanning all of that into the computer and going through that stuff to see what I can keep or adjust.

My goals for next week:

  • Outline
  • Scanning

Work training and old document scanning. Fun. :-/

What did I learn this week?

Nothing this week.

Last Week's Goals:

MAGIC'S FOOL: Let it rest until January.
Easy goal. [Smile]

MAGE STORM: Let it rest. Wait for feedback.
Also easy, sort of. [Smile]

SEVEN STARS: Let it rest.
Another easy one. [Smile]

BLOOD WILL TELL: Wait to hear from the agent who has the full ms.
Not so easy. [Frown]

BLOOD IS THICKER: Finish chapter 18.
Nope. I'm on Chapter 22. [Big Grin]

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.
Yes. [Smile]

Next Week's Goals:

On the Shelf:
THE IGNORED PROPHECY
DREAMER'S ROSE

MAGIC'S FOOL:
Let it rest until January. Then I can start the second draft.

MAGE STORM:
Let it rest. Wait for feedback.

SEVEN STARS:
Let it rest.

BLOOD WILL TELL:
Wait to hear from the agent who has the full ms. Solidify plans for what to do if the answer is no. I plan to query the agent after the first of the year.

BLOOD IS THICKER:
Finish. I'm so close.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.

I'm just gonna say nope, didn't accomplish my goals.

My goal for the next week is to get through two chapters of revision on my MG heroic fantasy novel.

Last week: Didn't meet my goal [Frown] Wrote 4300 words, and only hit 1k on two days.

Next week: I still want to aim for 1k/day & 10k/week, but I'll settle for half that. As I've already discovered, Christmas is good at eating writing time.

Totally blanked out on last week's novel thread so I'm listing this tonight instead of the last one or two days like usual.

Worked on three Novels.

A little on Angel Kin. Going to have to redo some of the first couple of chapters though. Now chapter five and my MC still doesn't know where she gets her abilities from. She is in the middle of a battle, this is the first time she has had to go up against major wizards. She knew very minor spells can't effect her but these are heavier spells and they slide right off her. Of course she isn't totally impervious to magic there will be something that will ham her maybe not this time though.

Definitely working on New Mage again. I may have figured out how to do the end battle after all. I am eager to get it done. It's just the beginning right now. She sent her two friends away with some potential victims, they couldn't do much right now anyway, so she is by herself. She wondered if she would see them again because they are not out of danger and she is in danger. Danger like she has never been in before. The emotion that went with that thought is new to her but she can't let it distract her.

Breaking Out:

I broke the last chapter into two. And will be almost completely rewriting the two. Notice I said rewrite not revising. A couple of us here seem to be having a disagreement on if a person's writing can be unpublishable. The last battle is in so bad a shape that it is unpublishable and it's not just my inner editor that says that.

Right now my MC is about to join in on a raid to rescue some kidnapped victims. His ribs on one side are injured but they need to get the victims now... I need to figure out something for him to do heroically.
