It's a very quietly elegant sort of story. I was hooked in at the start of the second paragraph, and then it sort of slowly build from there. Nice mix of the speculative elements and a more mainstream storyline.

Yeah. I got to the last line and tears just welled up. It was inevitable and yet took me by surprise, know what I mean?

Yeah. I think you're so caught in the story that you suspend the analysis, and even though the last line is inevitable in retrospect it still sounds fresh and poignant. Probably one of the reaons why the story is so...I don't know. Complete, if you know what I mean. Sad, but it doesn't leave you with a sense of something left hanging.
