Sara Gruen’s book, “Water for Elephants” has been on the best seller’s list for weeks and after reading it, I understand why. It’s an excellent realistic story about a train-traveling circus with all its bizarre characters, including its animals. For writers, it is an excellent example of character development, scene setting, pacing and drama, and some surprises – all done in first person POV. The only unsettling thing is the choice of a title.

I loved it. I listened to it on my iPod and was hooked. I loved the ending as well. I was so impressed at how she pulled it off in 1st person present.
