I just discovered this great new fantasy novel on par (to my untrained eye) with Epic fantasy like Sanderson's Mistborn and Stormlight series, or Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series.

It's called The Shadow of What Was Lost. I did find some issues with the story, but overall was very impressed and entertained. I loved all the layers of intrigue and plot twists--never quite sure who's side people are on and which side is good or bad...

Most interesting to me was that this is his first published work and that even though he self-published, it's been quite successful.
