Being a writer is a new dream for me. In school I did well with writing but I never saw myself as an author. Lately, writing is my way of stretching my mind and escaping my sometimes mundane world.
I have 4 children ranging from 3 to 14. It's funny that when I am trying to escape all the noise at home I let the characters of my stories talk non stop in my head. I guess you could say my life is not a very quiet one.
I have written two books so far and have started 3-4 others. It seemed time to get into a writing group and learn how to make my stories better. I am looking forward to reading other people's stories too.
P.S. Be warned... I stink at comma usage.

Welcome to the treehouse. May I suggest Lynne Truss's "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation" in which she devotes a fair amount of time to comma usage.

http://www.amazon.com/Eats-Shoots-Leaves-Tolerance-Punctuation/dp/1592400876

Believe me, it is not dry reading. She is quite funny in her evisceration of common punctuation snafus.

Cool! Thanks! I've heard of it. I will give it a try so my husband can stop sighing at me.

Yo, welcome to the treehouse.

we have two, maybe three, things in common. I write stories in my head, including dialogue. I have great problems with commas also. Once I find them I will list two other books that I have read. But I tend to swing back and forth between too many and not enough commas. The third one is writing novels which a lot of people here are doing.

But I think you have one of the best writing places on the internet to join. And one of the most fun. This here treehouse is chock full of things to see and find. But do be careful if you see a unicorn she can be mean.

Welcome to the treehouse.

Look into the Novel Support Group (NSG) under Hatrack Groups.

Welcome to the Treehouse. I'm relatively new here myself. I also write far too much in my head. My characters are extremely active and some I've never met jump in from time to time and I'm forced to write sniglets just to get them to give me some peace.

<sigh> Yes, there are voices in my head and I occasionally listen to them.
