Lets write a story and see what, if any, plot develops.
Copy the story up to the point its at and add your sentence.
Add as much as you wish to the story, but try not to have two
consecutive postings. I'll begin.

His increasing anxiety caused him to swallow hard, keeping the bile at bay.

He was so close to haveing the answer. It was just out of reach, and he wished Julia could just understand. This was his life's work.

In order to learn how to control time, it would mean sacrifices, not just for him but for the people he was close to. It struck him as odd though that Julia seemed to be aware of the temperal shifts. No one else had ever seemed to notice. Yet, once he had met her, they seemed to be linked. No matter how many times he hit the proverbial rewind button, they always met and she always knew everything.

He thought about the recent roadblock he had encountered and for a fleeting moment a thought went through his head: what if Julia were part of the problem?

He gagged. There was a sudden, horrible taste of rotten eggs in his mouth. Bending his head forward, he fought to keep his bile in his stomach.

His vision blurred and then he was thrown backward into one of the filing cabinets, as if a giant had slugged him one in the guts. His breath was knocked out of him, and he slid to the floor.
The hairs began to sprout on the backs of his hands, his legs began to lengthen, and
(Oh Dear God!)
that old transformation started to take place all over again.
"No! Please!" he screamed as his clothing ripped and his body bristled with a new covering of thick brown fur...

Tony.

The fur dissapeared, replaced by blue spots. His remote awareness that the hallucinations were his mind's way of coping with time travel was a thin shield against the insanity of the moment.

The blue spots spread and thinned, changing color as they moved, like the images in a kaleidascope, changing faster -- faster -- faster until the world was nothing but burning white light.

Slowly awareness returned, as his mind once again recovered from experiencing the extra-dimensional madness no man was meant to see.
