Like the subject asks, how does one go about changing their publicly displayed name? I thought we could change that, just not our login name... Any help would be much appreciated, even if it's just a "You can't do that...". Thanks. ^-^;

You can't do that....

[Edit] Although it doesn't really deserve a "Great!", for I would have liked to change my name without starting all over again, I am still really glad that somebody took the time to help me with my computer helplessness. Thanks!

You said that help would be much appreciated. I don't see much appreciation there. For shame.
Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :
Did you not see my "Great"? Sorry, I thought that was one of those words that could be used to express enthusiasm. Silly me.
Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :
Pfft. Gimme a friggin break here. "Great!" is enthusiasm. "Great.." is disappointment.
Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :
Is that better?
Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :
Heh. No.
Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :
Well then, how would you go about doing it?
Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :
I wouldn't promise to be greatly appreciative.
Posted by quidscribis (Member # 5124) on :
Um, but I LIKE your publicly displayed name. Why would you want to change it?
Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :
Primal, because I'm the kind of person that is [usually] greatly appreciative, I feel as though I should slip that in. Quid, because it makes me feel like some kind of.. like a Card fan girl. I'm not denying that I am one, but.. I don't know.. Well, that and I can't pronounce it.
Posted by Bekenn (Member # 6602) on :
Try "aye oo uh."
Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :
When I try to say it, it usually comes out like "Iowa." That or "ah-ee-oo-ah"...
Posted by quidscribis (Member # 5124) on :
So what if you can't pronounce it? You get to decide how it ought to be pronounced, and every one else has to fall in line. And we don't care if it makes you sound like some kind of a Card fan girl - after all, this is a Card site, so if not here, then where?
But none of that matters. It's still a cool name. I vote you stick with it. Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :
Well, seeing as I can't exactly go about changing it... Thanks, Quid. ^-^

I say "EI-wah", with that first part sounding kind of like a long "A". Go figure.
Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :
Is that an l or an i?
Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :
It's an "i". Just big for emphasis on the first syllable. Posted by Valentine014 (Member # 5981) on :
Take it from me, if you don't like your name, drop and pick another one right now while you're only at 63 odd posts.
Personally, I like your name, but it's your opinion that matters.

You only have 60some posts. If you don't like that name, register again for a new name&password&member#. There are people here who have or have had several.

Or who pick up extras on the way for an in-thread joke. Like Rani Sambol Oelik when we were discussing condiments. Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :
Make up a screen name just for a joke?
And then never use it again?
Who would do that?

Certainly nobody at Hatrack.
