Just as another side note...

Did you all notice that Mr. Card has chaged the temporary page for the web site ?

I certainly can't blame him after the heated conversation that has taken place over it this past week.

don't say no to the Incredible Medicine Show

Good Luck with the Medicine Show. There is something really catchy about the name. It's campy in all the right ways, like something out of vaudeville, with a chicken soup for the soul appetizer.

It feels very "Alvin Maker" to me.

I love the name. You just have to look at it with a name like that.

If you're mildly savvy things past can be made to appear present...

For what it's worth, I think that new temporary page looks sweet.

Of course, I quite liked the last page too, so what do I know? [Wink]

I think everyone universally likes the new logo.

We're almost there.... Have you checked it out recently?

Tomorrow's the big day?

I can't wait to read the Mazer story.

I'm registered, but still can't subscribe. I am excited to read "Respite". I think it's the one that someone submitted for a boot camp submission and OSC bought it on the spot.

Cool. I'm registered. Guess we can all subscribe tomorrow.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

*mournful* Some of us can.

Posted by R. Ann Dryden (Member # 8186) on :

Why can't you, Rivka?

Posted by accio (Member # 3040) on :

I’m registered. I think I’ll start with “Mazer in Prison” tomorrow.

Crossing my fingers for rivka.

Grumble grumble.

The 15th is a Saturday. Not exactly a good day to be logging onto the internet for Sabbath-observant Jews. Either that, Or I suppose some people only have unfettered internet access from work.

At least we'll have something to look forward to on Saturday night!

I honestly had no idea that Internet surfing broke the Sabbath. Well, we wouldn't want to interfere with your beliefs in any way. But, Saturday night will be here quicker than you think! Or Monday, for those who have to wait till then to log on.

I just registered. Oooh, there just teasing use with the titles and pictures posted already! Can't wait til tomorrow.

And Miss Dryden, I can't wait to read Respite.

I'm super curious as to what people think of the story. It was pretty much the first story I wrote as an adult, and it earned me a rejection from boot camp.

Posted by El JT de Spang (Member # 7742) on :

But you sold it!

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

What Gansura said. Although good point about the at-work-only surfers. I know we have a bunch of those.

Ann, no turning on or off anything electric, or causing it to do anything (which in essence means turning on and off individual circuits). So, no computer and no Internet.

Which actually really helps with the peace and relaxation and focusing on God aspects -- I'm just whining for the heck of it. [Wink]

That makes me feel so much better about being rejected! *grumbles "I told you so" to non-existant person and walks away*

OK Who isn't going to hit the site at 12:00:01 AM EDT?

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

I don't expect that I will. I do expect to have read the thing virtual cover to virtual cover before I get to work on Monday though.

Cool that you got your name kat! I had no trouble getting Noemon, but that isn't terribly surprising.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

It won't all be available "cover to cover" tomorrow. It will get stuff added to it regularly, all under the first month's subscription, over the course of the month.

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

True. It would be more accurate to say that on Sunday I will be reading all of the material then available in the first issue.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Race ya. [Wink]

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

[Smile] You're on.

I think the website looks very nice in its final form. I may even buy the first issue.

Though I kind of regret having bought a used copy of Hot Sleep now.

It sounds like something Penn & Teller would call one of their shows.

If regret turns into remorse, I'll buy it from you.

I'm most excited about the audio book included, how cools is that, you can read it online, print it out, OR listen to it on your ipod or whatever... I wonder what time zone of the 25th they will release it on. Good thing it is not today or I would be getting no work done!

I'm very excited that this venue will appeal to new authors and artists who appreciate Card's focus on character and community. This is professional, so they'll get paid and get some exposure; but it feels homey/safe enough that those who love to write but don't know if they do it well, will take a chance and submit their work.

I've generally enjoyed the thoughts, as reflected by Hatrack, of those who have been effected by Card's work. I can't wait to read art from people with the same background.
