I am fairly new to Hatrack, but I have been posting for about 1 month and I have no idea where everyone is from. So I thought I would start a thread.

I live in Orlando, Fl. I am a student at the University of Central Florida.

Check out this thread where it's been discussed before, along with links to threads even older than that where it was discussed before that.

Thanks, I figured there were some already out there.

Posted by Goody Scrivener (Member # 6742) on :

Well the links in that thread all go 404. I was checking to see if I'd previously answered.

Lifelong resident of the Chicago suburbs, would love to move to New Hampshire if things work out the way I want them to.

I go to college in Ithaca, NY, but I'm originally from northern New Jersey.

I am in central Texas where the temp is well above 100 today! We are hibernating in the AC.

Originally I am from New York City, but I moved to Palm Coast, Fl at the wee age of 4. When I graduated High School is when I moved to Orlando for college.

Where I'm from is different from where I live, which is also different from the place that is my legal residence. Sigh. Life is complicated sometimes.

I used to live in Orlando, FL.

I moved from there to be in the Midwest Clump of Hatrack.

You're in a good clump though. I suggest you try to join in some of the local Hatrack activities.

I used to teach adjunct at UCF in the Psych department. So...what are you taking there? Enjoying it?

Posted by Amanecer (Member # 4068) on :

I'm in the Dallas area. Richardson specifically.

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Yeah, Amanecer, how come you didn't come to DallasCon or ever get together with us when we were living in Richardson?

Posted by Amanecer (Member # 4068) on :

I was actually on a trip in Tennessee when you guys had DallasCon. Otherwise I would have showed. [Smile]

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

All right, how come you never answered any of my open dinner invitations? [Razz]

Posted by Jonathan Howard (Member # 6934) on :

I live on the road, I'm homeless, but I've hardwired my brain to the local hotspot so I can post on Hatrack [Big Grin]

*Singing:*

"Out on the road,
The young Howard stands,
Grasping his clothes
In his thin bony hands..."

Okay, seriously? Jerusalem.

Edited so Bobbers doesn't get overexcited.

Honestly, I don't think I ever read a post about your open dinner invitations. That's too bad. [Frown]

Also, I think I'm still mostly under the lurker status. I thought meeting might be wierd since I know so much about you guys and you guys know almost nothing about me. [Razz]

*attempts to delurk a little*

Oh man, I totally misread that...

Sure we do! They're called either "cons" (if a person/people are coming from out of area/state/country to attend and it's going to be more than just a couple of hours type thing) or "clump gatherings" (if it's just people from the area getting together for an event like a book signing, to watch a movie, to have a meal, to go to an amusement park, whatever.) Unless, of course, you're in SoCal, in which case a clump gathering is a shinda. [Smile]

If you want to have one, start a thread saying "Ft. Lauderdale get-together?" or some such. I bet there are people in driving distance who would love to work out a time and place with you. [Smile]

Hmm...

UCF's Hospitality Mgt. school is a good one. Have fun!

I didn't know it was headquartered over by Universal. That's actually better than being way out on the East side of town.

lma, Fresno. I spent a very long weekend in Fresno once. I still bear the emotional scars.

Bob,

They just recently opened the Rosen Campus about 2 years ago. It is a beatiful campus, Rosen from Rosen Hotels donated 10+ million dollars to the school to build it.

Don't remember a bennet valley. I was in the Sebastepol area (do they share with 5th ward?) and 4th ward I think.

There were a lot of cool people there. The Jones triplets stick out in my mind because they were so well known... And I still have very fond memories of riding my mountain bike next to the railroad tracks after it had rained... mud everywhere! [Big Grin]

I'd announce a Detroit Con, but there's only what, three of us in the Metro-Detroit area? That's more of a poker game than a Con.

Though...that idea does have some merit. I wonder if Telp and Hamson play Hold 'Em.

Portland, Oregon, born and raised. Actually Aloha, pronounce without the h, which causes me to wonder at its purpose in the first place. Anyways, nobody's ever heard of Aloha, so I say Portland.

And for the next two years I'll be living somewhere in Utah, where I'm serving my mission for the LDS church.
