Posted this on the other side, but I know some people don't go over there. Here it is, for those of you who don't get DRIN.

OSC: I can’t say any more about that right now. Sorry.
Ok, I recently read something about OSC and his, uh, crew, approaching "some particular actress" to play a leading role in an adaptation of "some book, and no, you don't know what book it is, and know, you don't know who the actress is."

We'd love for Queen Latifah to play the role of Yo Yo in Magic Street. She's looking at the project right now. Meanwhile, we're also showing it to others. Nobody is committed to anything.

So is this like, an announcement of a Magic Street movie, or did I somehow miss the previous one? Or does this not mean anything yet, and it's still all speculative? I haven't gotten far enough into Magic Street yet to know who Yo Yo is, but this sounds like a very cool prospect.
EDIT: One day I will make a post without having to edit it. I promise.

Yeah, I know, any respectable Inspector Gadget would already know all these things, or convince everyone he did, and then find out himself. That's why I went into message board trolling instead.

Any published novel is a potential film, by virtue of the system known as Hollywood, which is so devoid of any collective taste that it relies heavily on book options for story ideas.
That isn't to say that there aren't any good story ideas in Hollywood, just a critical mass of producers and studio people who feel better betting millions on something that's tangible.

Well, yeah. But they're already showing it to actresses. I figured that probably came after the getting-someone-to-make it part, but I couldn't be sure.

Sometimes, getting a big-name actress (or actor) attached to a project makes it easier to find someone to make it.
