I'm thinking of starting a project focusing on all things Canon in the Enderverse names, places, concepts and cross referencing them the purpose other then to relieve my boredom will be to act as a help for people say working on essays and they need to quickly find a couple of things about the Bugger wars, we could have the encyclopedia not only look up the bugger wars but have links to any other enderversite mentioned. I'm thinking if Hatrack gets together and does this we could have with Mr Card's permission upload it to the site and anyone doing reserch could look up what they need to and it would be free. SOmething we could do on our spare time. Any feedback?

That's a really cool concept Sid, and I'd be glad to help in any way during my free time (which I have a lot of this summer). I'm not quite sure how it would be like an encyclopedia though, considering there aren't a staggering amount of new terms themselves. But facts, and personal micro-timelines and things could sure be useful if organized accordingly. But anywho, you have a good idea.

Aha, so I'm not delusional I do have good ideas form time to time
All seriousness aside, essentially its will be a collection organized alphabetically of information from the Enderverse, say we start with "Andrew Wiggin" and then we'll have a whole mirco bio with links to other things if they're mentioned, like say Valtine is mentioned that could be a link to Valentine's mirco bio etc etc.
The point is to make it online/downloadable with an easy search feature. Once we have some more people on board we'll discuss responsibilities.

Hmm yes. To make it useful to people around here though, more detailed easily accessible facts will probably have to be included too, along with the general summarizing overviews of the characters and such.

Ya, though I like "Enpedia" (Ender + Encyclopedia) Encyclopedia Galactica might be copy right I don't know. Ours will include not only the whole Enderverse but also little miscellanious things that we decided for ourselves after endless hours debating every little canon violation or phenomena in the various books.
So that for once all posts asking for info will become obselete.

If this is done, a wiki is definitely the way to go. I could probably host one, but I would not do so without OSC's permission, even though I don't necessarily think it would be against IP laws.
Such permission could be given in such a way as to not include an endoresment of the site, but there are other issues he'd want to take into consideration as well.
So, if OSC thinks this is acceptable, I'll determine the technical issues this weekend. If OSC doesn't want such an ecnyclopedia hosted, I'll not participate.

i would love to join in on this. If we could do it on hatrack or a site that hatrack linked to it'd be great as well... The Philotic web is actually mentioned in the back of one of the books, I don't remember which, so maybe we could either get something like that or figure out who is running that and make it a team effort and update it regularly? just a thought...

Sounds good once we get permission I'ld like to as soon as Dagonee is satisfied with the technical issues. What I'ld like is for there to be a link to the Encyclopedia Galactica on Hatrack and we could have a listing for OSC himself as well.

Scott Card, Orsen:
The writer of the Ender Quartet and the Shadow series Orsen Scott Card likes to play Civilization II though got off the habit but will most likely get addicted to Civ4, he currently lives in Greensboro NC, he has a number of children named after famous writers, one of them is even a famous game desiegner/developer. OSC is a member of the Curch of Latter Day Saints and believes strongly in his faith, notable Democrat and a strong believer in the cause of freedom and democratic rights for all. His works have been as a child influenced by Isaac Asimov and McClellin's "Army of the Potomac" where he first begun to learn the difference between a good commander of men and a bad one. Mr Card is currently... well I don't kow so I'll geuss 44 years old and is enjoying writng books for all of his dear fans.

I don't understand the point. If you really want to do this, just add the appropriate entries to Wikipedia.

I think it would be neat to do it in the same format as the Encyclopedia Galactica with biographies on people and events, etc. (Note: The Grand Master most definitely has a copyright on that title.) At first, Wikipedia sounds good, but we could do better. As for the Philotic web, OURS would be more ocmplete and up-to-date. The no-spoiler idea should be kept in mind, if possible. I'm interested in seeing what Mr. Card thinks of all this.

I'd like entries for all the slang words that I didn't understand. Like Bacana and all the other Spanish words. I actually had to take 2 years of Spanish before I could understand those parts of the book.

that is also a good idea including all of the slang, I didn't think about it, also we could have in which books its mentioned, what it means and possible the context.
And El JT de something I cant pronounce I'ld be happy to have you as a proof reader.

Scary! I've actually been working on a much smaller scale version of something like this for myself, I wonder if my stuff could help? Right now it's mostly translations and timeline...
