My computer isn't happy. It would have to download about twelve things to open the page. [Frown]

Are we seriously supposed to guess? I mean, it's not like it's a riddle or anything.

Nah, but it's neat seeing cold war relics from the point of view of children.

Both The Iron Giant and the Simpsons did great parodies on that particular cartoon.

I'm just glad they resurrected the concept so I know what to do in case of nuclear destruction.

Well, there's at least one relic here who was a child watching TV when these things were airing.

(Obsessing inordinately on the word "relic" right now.) [Grumble]

Ralphie: [Taunt]

Book: No need to apologize if you're talking about me. I was joking - regardless of my age, I retain the right to be as immature as I want. [Big Grin]

South Park did a fantastic parody of this as well. Duck and cover was what was s'posed to save them from the lava flow that was going to destroy the town. Instead, I think they got the monster that had Patrick Duffy for a leg to help save them.

For those not "in the know" - "duck and cover" was what you were s'posed to do in case of a nuclear strike against the US by the USSR or one of its allies. S'posedly, hiding under your desk with your hands over your head would save you from the radiation and fallout. They did a lot of "duck and cover" drills in public schools for a few years, way back in the long long ago. I think it was originally intended to reduce panic by making citizens believe there was something they could do to prevent their death/sickness in the event of a nuclear strike besides living in a fallout shelter for the rest of their lives.
