I was poking around on AICN and came across a link to www.bubbahotep.com - I didn't know Bubba Ho-Tep had a website, but I went there and I found showtimes!! And it's showing at the Orphenium theatre in Madison!
For those that don't know: Bubba Ho-Tep is about an old Elvis who is currently living out his last years in a home somewhere in Florida. A hick-mummy named Bubba Ho-Tep is somehow disturbed and is now prowling the home, sucking the souls out of old people. Aided by an elderly black fellow who happens to think he's JFK, Elvis goes on a quest to bring this mummy's rampage to an end, including old-person fight scenes where Elvis beats the mummy about the head and neck with his walker!
I wouldn't be the slightest bit interested if Bruce Campbell wasn't playing the King. Ozzie Davis plays his sidekick - I don't know where I know him from, but his name is familiar.
So, the question is: does anyone in the Madison/Illinois area want to go see it?
Here are the times:
quote:Fri, Mon - Thurs - 5, 7, 9 Sat & Sun - 1, 3, 5, 7, 9
No mention how long it will be playing. Fairly long, I hope - this weekend's no good for me.

Actually, Campbell plays an aged Elvis IMPERSONATOR who seems to forget that he was merely an impersonator )

Shall we see if its playing MLK weekend and do that as our impromptu Wisconsinites who can't make it to Wenchcon gathering?

I was going to try to talk you all into coming to my house for MLK weekend!
But since that probably wouldn't have worked anyway -- yeah, let's do it. But is there anyway we can go Friday night?

I wish. Tomorrow looks like it's going to be 14 hour day, 10AM-midnight. I'd suggest Sunday, except that Jules and I have finally hooked my parents in law and her grandmother into seeing ROTK of their own free will. They finally understand a bit of why we are so fanatical about it.
I'm all for going to see it over MLK weekend, if it's playing.

Friday, as in "the Friday of Martin Luther King weekend, rather than the Saturday when Dana would either have to take Sunday off (not likely) or arrive home at 4 in the morning."
Although I guess Sunday night of MLK weekend would work as well.

Depends if Dan has to work late on the 16th - hopefully he'll know soon. Otherwise, the night of the 18th would work for me (I'm pretty sure I get the 19th off). No idea about Dan's work schedule. I'll tell him to get his butt back here if he knows, though!

I'll see what's going on the night of the 16th. I know people are going to be here and working, though if they have anything for me to do remains to be seen. I also probably have the option of *not* volunteering. When I find out, I shall post again!
I'm pretty sure that I get the 19th off, but I'll check that, too.

I'd love to go, but I think this weekend IS the last weekend. Would you like me to call on showtimes tonight?

Bad news! TOMORROW NIGHT is the last showing of Bubba Ho-tep ANYWHERE in Wisconsin. It's been playing at the Orpheum for three weeks, and is about to be replaced by "The Animation Show."

I'm certainly up for it, and I'd imagine that Christy is, too. Are we in a movie/show mood? Board games? Hiking?

Hey, the show appears to be coming to Salt Lake at the end of the month. I've been waiting for at least a year for it to get here, so I'm definately going. Anyone with me?

Crap! I was really hoping to get up to see it. But tomorrow's definitely a no-go. We're re-IPing everything at work, and I have to be there to handle some of the grunt work. :\
Oh well, I'll keep my eyes peeled. Maybe it'll come back into the area.
The bad news is that I don't get MLK day off. So anything that I can do would have to be limited to Sunday at this point (it looks like next friday is also taken).
Fantastic timing on [employer's name here]'s part! "I know! We'll integrate our networks over MLK weekend! And the weekend before!"
I have four bedrooms. And a pottery wheel. And enough room to have a quilting bee, a dungeons and dragons game and some other large spread out activity going on at the same time and still have room to cook dinner!
There's just not a darn thing to do outside of the house.

Oh, if you want snow I've got 12 foot high piles of it in the backyard. All the snow from clearing the church parking lots gets piled there. It would make a great row of snow forts.

Ya know, I've always wanted to build a fort out of a relatively clean pile of parking lot snow. There's enough of it that we could do tunnels and stuff.

I don't about relatively clean -- the parking lot isn't paved. But there's definitely enough for tunnels.
