You have to be patient fallow - I had at least 3 threads die before people started paying attention to me.

It still happens to people who've been around for ages - just depends who's awake, what mood people are in and the point in the hatrack cycle.

Sit back! Relax! [Cool]

Two points, Fallow:

1) The odds of getting a reply within an hour to a relatively pointless thread posted at 2:30 in the morning are very low. Many of us sleep.

2) Your personal sense of worth should not be so dependent on coming up with a "successful" thread. Frankly, you just might not be any good at it, and continually trying just makes you seem desperate. What you want to do, fallow, is post when you have something on your mind or something you'd like to share with people; trying to come up with something compelling when you don't actually have anything compelling to say is an endeavor doomed to defeat.

fallow -- Scientist? You're a scientist? (based on your profile)

really? And you couldn't come up with a witty "product name" for your own thread??

j/k
No, really -- I'm just razzing ya. Keep posting and keep trying. I remember how long it took me to start a thread that people actually took off with.

Your profile also says you like pyramids. So say something about pyramids we don't already know. Interesting trivia is always fun. (although the people on here know pretty much everything, I have found.)

Farmgirl

by the way -- I DID like the title (even if it was Goat's idea.) Made me look

Am I the only person who thinks it funny/ironic that a person named fallow is upset that his threads aren't more active?

(passes fallow a frothy beverage)

Have a seat, young fellow. Relax, drink up, soak in the atmosphere. Quit trying so hard to lead, but instead become part of the scene.

Those in the lead, came from within the crowd. Enjoy, relax, learn, speak your mind and learn some more.

[Laugh] "Head cleaner," as in tape heads and floppy drive heads?

When's the last time you saw one of those?

Well, unfortunately this reminds me of an ad I think I saw in a fingerut catalog for "Butt Floss". Just in the vein of floss for parts of the body that aren't your teeth.

Ment-a-dent: Another real product.

Papa Moose: [ROFL]

Advice on starting threads: I commend you for not giving into the temptation of starting a gay marriage thread.

I haven't even seriously posted in one yet. That's because I'm gleefully flippant and ignortant and don't want to change, because thinking gives you wrinkles. [Big Grin]
