Ok, I have been considering signing up. But to do so would mean getting high speed internet (which I don't even have dial-up at home right now) So I would have to pay for that and the X-box live starter kit and monthly fees. My biggest hang up is finding a good high speed conection. I know our area has roadrunner, which I would love but I don't really like the 45 bucks a month to have it. So what other companies would be good to look into for high speed? And should I even do it. Is Live that great? I could get dial up for ten bucks a month through my school. I don't know, any advice?

My local phone company has high-speed cable for like $30 a month. I could never go back. I wouldn't get the X-Box, but would stick with your pc online games. Of course that gets expensive with updating video card, but by the time you invest a lot of money into X-box, PS3 will probably be out. So it is 6s for me, however, I like PC games better (As a rule). I do love Metal Gear and Silent Hill and an occasional bout of Tekken.

I would not reccomend buying high speed internet just so you can play Xbox live. If you will use the hell out of the high speed connection for computing as well, then go for it.

Get the high-speed. Ditch the XBox, come play City of Heroes with Kwea, myself, TomD, Geoff, and many more*!!

*"many more" may include large amounts of non-Jatraqueros. Your mileage may vary.

I would definately get good use of the high speed for the computer. I hate not having access at home. As for PC gaming. I have never been a big fan. Other than Half-Life way back when, I have never really enjoyed playing. So X-box live is much more up my alley, and expecially in Sept. when Halo 2 comes out. I forsee hours upon hours of wasted time. Here's the big question? What service is the best?

Xbox live is not worth the money. You're better off just playing LAN with friends, if that's possible.

Xbox live is a waste of money. There's software that you can use to connect through a broadband connection (and your computer) to other people on the same network for free. I can't remember the name of it (I don't own an xbox, and the guy who does works days), but if you do a search for it you should be able to find it.

I know of this. I have it myself. It's called Xbox Connect.
Linkage.

I thought it was something like that, but we've got a fun proxy server at work that blocks sites that talk about games and stuff.
