Here's the problem. I can't find enough good music. I rip through pieces in a matter of weeks, draining them of all their "spirit" and then moving on to newer, better pieces.
But... it's getting really hard to find them.
What am I looking for specifically?
Something that BURNS with emotion, that RIPS through the mind and brands it permanently; something with a BRILLIANT tune that dives into my soul.
Any genre (though I always love finding classical pieces that stick to me because I appreciate the genre, but most pieces bore me).

I have a couple friends who occasionally do radio shows on the local college station. This past Sunday night they did a film scores show. A whole lot of Danny Elfman, mostly, but I think they had a song from a Muppets movie in there too.

If you like classical, check out Carmina Burana, if you haven't already... it's one of the most amazing works of classical music ever written.

Some great classical, in my opinion, is Holst's The Planets (Mars is my absolute favorite). I'd also second Carl Orff's Carmina Burana.
My favorite group for the last couple months has been Massive Attack (especially the 100th Window album). Before that, I was on a Lacuna Coil kick. Before that, Earthsuit.

Farmgirl - Yanni Live at the Acropolis is one of my all-time favorite CDs
It's even better cause I saw it on TV and can picture the cool lady in the red dress doing the violin solos... *sigh* I love it!

Phanto, maybe some examples of what songs DO move you in such a way would be helpful.
Anyway, I know The Odyssey by Symphony X has always moved me. And if you're into classical and rock, it's got elements of both, so you might like it. It's 24 minutes long, though...

Hehe, I was just searching for an appropriate thread to comment on it. I have only gotten a chance to listen to the first few songs of each CD, but I have to say I LOVE it!!
