Anyone may post as a guest, and read topics without joining the forum. If you are shy about signing up for another forum, then you may still argue your guts out for your favorite novel, but you may not vote. Only members of sakeriver forums may vote.
However, it is totally free. It is a totally cool place to post, hosted by saxon75, who will be totally cool with any and all info you must submit to join.
If you hang around long enough, he might even grant you a title.

How long will it run? It's one thing trying to read Hatrack on someone else's 'puter. But I'm not about to start loading lots of boards willy-nilly.

This first heat will last until Saturday 8/20/04, at which time I may stoll into the forum and post official results and begin the first round of polls for Greatest SF Novel.
Which may, in fact, be Dune.

Huh. Somehow I've missed ever hearing about Childhood's End until this poll. I'm gonna have to put it in my queue after Enemy Mine and Dandelion Wine.

Due largely to the demographics of this site, Speaker for the Dead is proclaimed as the sakeriver Greatest SF Novel.
The novel is a masterful achievment, as are all that entered this final round. I still find myself occasionally pondering over the Descolada virus and the Piggies. This, for me, may actually be OSC's most impressive novel to date, written in a very good period for the author.
Thanks to all who posted and voted for making it a fun little set of polls!
