Ok, all of us who play video games have heard our share of bad celebrity fakes using recordings of their voices over the various voice chats avalible. Arnold is a particular favorite.
My brother however, was just playing with the real deal or so he thinks. Both he and everyone else in the game is convinced of it. It sounded exactly like him, said things directly related to the game that couldn't have been a recording and so... either it was an amazing voice impersonator, someone who is really good with recordings and could make things sound like they relate to the game in context, or it was the real thing. Whoever it was managed to convince most of his Halo 2 team that he was indeed the Govanator, my brother included. I only got to hear a short snippet of coversation, but it sounded exactly like him and didn't sound like a bunch of recordings spliced together at all...

I wouldn't be all that surprised. There are actually quite a lot of well known people on Xbox live...sometimes xbox has special functions where they play in tournaments...and then they just get hooked. I have heard celebs mentioning it in interviews and such (though they don't generally tell people their usual gamertags)

I think it could be real. A lot of celebrities enjoy online gaming. It gives them a chance to hang out with the common folks without getting hammered with compliments and requests.

Heather Graham mentioned in an interview that she played EverQuest and planned to play EverQuest 2 also, saying that she gets so into gaming that "I hope it won't interfere with my work."
*hopes she's somewhere on Permafrost server in EQ2 *
