Here's the short version: Two friends and I are forming a new charitable organization here in Sri Lanka. It's called Befriend Sri Lanka (no content on it yet, sorry! We're working on it) and our initial goal is to provide grief counselling for survivors of the tsunami. It's a long term project, and we're also considering adding skills training. Many of the survivors were fishers who will go back to fishing if they can, but there's a lot of environmental ocean damage because of the tsunami, so fish may be scarce for a while. And many of the survivors were the spouses/children of fishers but the main breadwinner is no longer alive.
We need a logo. For our website and for our stationary (letterhead, business cards, etc.) We have no money, so we can't afford to pay anyone. However, we will have a page giving credit to various people/organizations that donate to the organization either with money or goods or in kind.
Ideas that we're currently floating involve a map of the affected area with two hands reaching towards each other a la Michaelangelo's Creation (I think it's called something like that.) But if we see something we like better, then obviously that would win.
If you have suggestions, please feel free to shoot away. If you'd like to volunteer, then please let me know.
