I've lost my AIM connection. Nothing else, just AIM, I've tried restarting and it still isn't working. I'm really sorry. If you want to email me at blacwolve@gmail.com with the rest of what you were saying, that would be great!

I was using gaim. Was everyone else using an alternate client, or were some using aol's client?

Oh good! You were kicked off too. I don't feel nearly as guilty now.
What's a "netsplit" and what's the difference between gaim and deadaim?
I swear, I've posted more tonight than in the last 3 weeks together. I need to watch my count, I still haven't decided whether to switch SNs on my 3000 mark.

netsplit is a term from IRC. People on IRC use different servers to connect to the network, and a netsplit happens when one of the servers goes down or loses it's connection. You'll see, like, a third of the folks in the channel suddenly drop off. I'm not sure if AIM uses multiple servers, but I don't see why it wouldn't, so yeah, there's sometimes a similar affect where several folks will get kicked out of chat at once.
Gaim and DeadAIM are two different clients that use the AIM protocol for IM conversations. Basically, just two different pieces of software. I'm familiar with Gaim by name only, so I can't say how it differs from DeadAIM. DeadAIM differs from the regular AIM client in that you can clone the program, meaning you can be logged on to multiple screennames at once without having to link the names. It also does automatic logging and uses tabbed IM windows.

If I could find a way to get there, I would like to go. The problem is that I can't take off work tomorrow because it's quarter close, and the lack of a car makes it difficult to meet anyone anywhere. I considered renting a car, but I don't have a credit card, and most rental places require one at pickup.
