So we got a cockatiel bird exactly a week ago to keep our other cockatiel "Arwen" company and we still hadn't named him yet. We got him the same day our blue parakeet "Artoo" died (we only had him for 2-3 weeks) We believe he died from too many hits on the head (he flew into walls and windows)
Anyway today my husband called the vet for our new bird (there are clicks and pops coming from his body, we think his lungs) and so when the recepion asked him what our bird's name was... um. At one point we were talking about calling him Aragorn since our other bird's name is Arwen. So my husband told the receptionist his name was Aragorn. I guess we're now stuck with that name. Which is ok because it took us forever to think of a name for Arwen.
Does anyone know what the sounds are that are coming from Aragorn by any chance? I thought I heard the sound before with one of my cockatiels I had in high school. She died of pneumonia... I hope that's not it.

Is the bird young? Perhaps it is just attempts at mimicking sounds it is hearing?
Just got a cockatiel myself. Already 3 years old and came from a neglected home. Amazing how fast she is warming up to me.

Aragorn is about 6 months, but his beak doesn't move and it sounds like the popping noise is coming from his body. Cockatiels are extremely social, I was surprised how Aragorn is warming up to us when he wasn't even hand fed.
