So, what resources could I use to find people who need roommates or small apartments for rent besides craigslist?
I was going to move into a cool apartment a couple of blocks from campus, but one of my potential roommates decided he'd rather have one of his friends live there.
I've emailed people from craigslist but haven't received much of a response. Also, a lot of people only want graduate students or professionals. I'll be a graduate student in August, but I'm sure that doesn't count.
The thing is, I have a room on-campus, but it's in a freshman dorm. And that, aside from being surrounded by freshmen experiencing the freedom of college for the first time (last year, I lived in this dorm and came back from a 5-minute excursion to the store, laid down, and discovered that there was something warm in my bed. An utterly wasted freshman girl who lived across the hall had wandered in and decided to pass out. When I took her across the hall to her own room, she tried to steal my blanket), this also means freshman living restrictions, which will mean that no one can come visit me without getting a hotel, and I'll have to move in May no matter what, even if I'm taking classes through July.
If I stay in New Orleans for grad school, I'm going to have to find an apartment no matter what, since there's no graduate housing. Better to do it now, before rent is increased dramatically, right?
So, Hatrack, I ask you. Where else can I look to find a roommate or an apartment?

I usually can find various apartment listings in campus bathrooms, of all places. Or on some kind of call board or public listing place.

Again, would be good if I were in New Orleans, and school were in session there. But at the moment, it looks like I'm restricted to the internet.
And every apartment search I've tried aside from Craigslist has only turned up a handful of apartments, none of which are close enough. I'm on nola.com right now, but they don't include such important details as rent and number of bedrooms/bathrooms.

Go ahead and contact the ones who want graduate students and explain that you're a senior who will be starting grad school in August. They might be okay with that.
