I thought I would start a new journal or list of interesting things I have come across for the week. I wanted to do this just for me and then I thought I would take it a step further. This is a weekly free for all. The idea is similar to our host’s weekly review but I don’t really intend to review anything. Just kind of want to keep a running list of interesting or unique things I come across that I want to share with other people. I’ll have brief descriptions or maybe links to web pages but that’s about all. If I list it I liked it, no real need to give more of a review. Hoping other people will add their own ideas and thoughts to the list during the week. A lot of the coolest things out there don’t get much publicity. So anyways… lets get started.

Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 – saw all this stuff over the past week

The 4400 – I realize that this show has been around for a few seasons now but I only just saw the pilot and am really looking forward to seeing more.

O’Bryonville – Cool little shopping district in Cincinnati, OH. The two stores that really stood out were Ten Thousand Villages, which is non profit store that sells goods made by third world artisans who get fair market value for all their creations, and a store that sold posters from the different eras of the last hundred years or so. I can’t remember the name of the Poster shop but it was awesome and the posters were all authentic, some with price tags of well over 2,000.00. Very cool stores.

The Revenge Trilogy – This is a set of three films by director Chan Wook Park . The films are OldBoy, Lady Vengence, and Sympathy for Mr. Vegence. I watched OldBoy the other day and loved it. I have the other two on order with netflix.

High School Wrestling – OK, this isn’t something new I’ve just discovered. I’m a high school wrestling coach and our season is just around the corner. Find your local high school’s schedule and go check out a match. It’s the greatest sport out there and deserves new fans.

Crossroads Community Church – A huge non-denominational church in Cincinnati, OH. (I visited there this weekend, hence the couple of references to places in the area) It’s a Huge church, a bit more than I could probably handle on a weekly basis but interesting enough for a visit or two.

That’s a bout it for now. I really encourage people to jump on and share some of their own interesting places, books, television shows, movies, etc…

I didn't really have a very eventful week so there isn't much to add but the one thing I did discover is a big hitter so maybe the week wasn't such a bust after all.

The Octabong - This is an example of excess to the extreme. It will make you recall you college days with fond memories. It was the hit of the tailgate this weekend at The Ohio State vs. Indidna football game. It is liquid distribution at its finest.

Edited to add:

Cheesy Tailgate dip - Almost forgot about this one. A friend of mine brought the most amazing Southwest Chicken Ranch Cheese Dip for the tailgat party. As soon as I get the recipe from her I will post it here because it was amesome.
