Anyone got a good idea of what class levels Sephiroth would have to have to something close to his alledged abilities in the Final Fantasy 7 franchise? I'm thinking Weaponmaster plus something that gives him extraordinary abilities.

Hey, I forgot to ask: how's your game going, the one you were running?

Eh, if we're going Final Fantasy VII, he's not that tough. A 4X Attack materia, Ultimate Weapon, Counter-Attack Materia, and a full limit-break with Cloud using omnislash will take down one-winged angel in a heartbeat. =P

We've had one session and took an intermission due to the holidays, 2 of our players couldn't make it for the first session, and i think we lost one who thought it was "too nerdy" which is probably for the best because he kept wanting to try things which were not possible for his character, such as slipping out of rope that tied his hands together behind him when he was a sorceror or adlib moves like "pulling out nunchuks" which he never bought or has the feat to use.

Dano, whose the most DnD experience of who played liked the session and felt aside from the Ninja Sorceror wannabe went well.

One of the missing players made his character, a Half Giant Knight which is kinda neat, now its just a matter when I return to my apartment before school starts to compare everyones scheduals to choose a afternoon once a week or every 2 weeks.

I know you're not asking for advice, but I'll give it anyway. In situations like this, it's usually best to let the character try, but fail. There's an old rule in improv that you should never say "no" outright to someone's idea; even if it takes you in a weird or unpleasant direction, you should run with it to avoid simple negation. And what is D&D but co-op improv with a few more rules, really?

So when he wants to slip out of rope that has tied his hands together, you can have him make an untrained Escape Artist check vs. the binder's Use Rope check (+10). If he fails because he hasn't put any points into Escape Artist, you can tell him that he has a few options for the next time this happens: 1) put points into Escape Artist when he levels; 2) learn a spell like Prestidigitation in conjunction with the Still Spell feat, so he could cast it while bound; 3) etc....

And when he wants to pull out nunchuks, you say, "Well, they aren't on your equipment list, but since you're a new player I'll let you have them if you deduct the gold. But they're an exotic weapon because they're hard to use effectively, so you're going to be -4 to hit with them and you won't be able to use them as a double weapon, at least until you invest a feat somewhere down the line." It's also worth noting that unless he has the Quick Draw feat, something like "I pull out nunchucks" basically amounts to his action for the turn (unless his BAB is higher than 4, which is unlikely for a low-level sorceror).

It's been my experience that saying, "Okay, but..." is a lot more effective with new players than saying, "No, that's stupid."

I sorta did both "thats really silly but alright" he actually managed to get out of the ropes but because he made alot of noise I had the guards back in knock him out and retie him.

Any advice is good advice. He really really reaaaaaly wasn't into the role playing, he liked combat when a fight actually started betweent he 2 pcs (and it was fun he was lvl 3 kicking the other pc (lvl 5) ass) but the time to get there the talking and roleplaying/improv though he didn't quite like.

Whoa. If the PCs are fighting each other something has gone wrong.

I found it was the perfect oppurtunity to start the story as they were running out of the tavern I had an entire company of Waterhadvian guards waiting for them to arrest them. Worked for me.
