I have been checking out the local pawn shops for Wii's, and one of them lowered the price on them to $109 last week. Then they were having a 20% off sale. I bought an almost new Wii in great shape, an extra controller with the Motion Plus and a spare nunchuck, and a 6 month warranty on the game system. I also paid $5 for Wii Sports.....I know it came with the system originally, but it was close enough to free for me. I paid $133 total for that stuff, a lot less than buying it new for $179.99, with only one controller.
Then I took a Best Buy ad to Wal-Mart and got them to price match the Wii Fit plus kit, board and game, for $79.99. Wal-Mart's price is still $99.99 for the set, but BB was out of the one they ran the ad for, so I got that better price. That way I didn't have to wait for it, or pay for shipping.
It's updating now, and I am looking forward to playing wiht my new toy.
I am also looking forward to using it with my wife to increase out fitness levels.

Let me know how the Wii Fit works for you. I've heard mixed things about it from my friends.
I can't afford a gym membership and because of my tendency to randomly pass out, I have to stop my jogs around the neighborhood. Besides, working out in my heated apartment sounds more comfortable anyway.

Wii Fit Plus is indisputably a fun game, but I am skeptical as to whether its direct contribution to your physical fitness is much more than psychological (reminding you to think in terms of healthiness and motivating you to keep at it). Of course, I never played it for very long stretches, and beside the point I never needed to lose weight according to the Body Mass Index, so I wasn't motivated to do so for my fitness's sake.
The Wii has a lot of great games that can be enjoyed by a variety of audiences. I'm sure it will prove to be well worth the price!

Good now you can have the honor of throwing it out personally! *j/k*
I'ld say if theres a DDR game get that, get Kid Icarus and pretty much every Mario or Zelda related game ever made and you're good, including virtual console stuff.
Oh and Monster Hunter Tri, get that.
DONT waste your money on stuff that was ported from the hardcore gamer consoles (PS3 and 360 if theres any confusion) such as Star Wars Force Unleashed or Reloaded or whatever its called it SUCKS on the Wii and pretty much any other modern generation first person shooter.
The 360 was pretty much designed for Halo and games that want to BE Halo, if you want a FPS either get it for PC or get a 360, learn very quickly that certain consoles are only good for certain things.
Tell you what, shoot me a list of ANY wii games you consider getting and I'll run it by my brother whose an avid wii gamer and I can get back to you on whats worth your money.
Also, check with Zero Punctuation/Yahtzee, if says anything that might maybe appeal to you while hes ripping it to shreds then it probably means you'll find it fun, up to and including games for the Wii he considers "meh" thats like 8/10 on any Gaming review site right there.

cool, thanks Blayne, I may take you up on that.
I have a PS3 that I use to control my media, such as movies and music, and even pictures a bit.
I did the Wii Fit for a little, and it's pretty basic, but I think it will help just because of the tracking it does of your activity levels. I found myself having difficulty doing even some of the basic balance stuff, so I think it will be great for that.
I don't expect it to change my life, but I think it will help keep me, and my wife, motivated.
The only game we are currently considering for the Wii is Epic Micky, because my wife is a complete Disney freak. It is a fun game, I played it for about 10 min in the store. Not for everyone, to be sure, but we will probably enjoy it.

My whole family tried to get on board the Wii Fit craze, but it didn't last. Our balance board is collecting dust in a corner somewhere. We get it out about once a year to laugh at each other trying to do the hula-hoop game.

I just got a Wii as well, and am enjoying it. My family loves the Wii Fit we got along with it. It's already my wife's preferred workout.
I got Metroid: Other M and have actually been considering trading it. There's so much backstory that I have to sit through, and the story is so crappy I can hardly stand to have it on the TV. I think my total gameplay time has been about 5 minutes, compared to about 40 minutes of D-grade drivel about Samus Aran.
But I got Mario Galaxy as well, and that is an awesome game.

My husband and I just got a Wii, and some other friends of ours have a bunch of Wii games that they're lending to us.
-Super Mario Galaxy I and II are great fun.
-Force Unleashed (we found it used for cheap) is a weak story, but a fun mechanic. The first thing you do is stroll through a level as Darth Vader, force-choking and shooting lightning at anything that moves. That alone makes it worth it in our house.
-I wasn't too interested in the Wii fit, but as soon as I get a tax return we're getting a DDR setup. I played DDR games on a roommate's PS2, and I got a good workout and had a lot of fun. I'm fairly hopeful about the Wiimote integration in the game, since you can get an upper body workout too. It's not dancing, it's competitive aerobics.
-Super Mario Brothers Wii is incredibly stressful, though I hear two players are much better than four. With four, it's utter bedlam.
-I actually got a kick out of doing Wii Sports bowling.
-There's one game who's title I can't remember, where you're a monkey in a ball trying to get through various courses. The mechanic is actually pretty fun, what little we saw of it at my in-laws.
-If you're interested in Netflix, you can get a dedicated Wii channel for it -- I guess it's not news, since you can do it for every other 5th gen console -- but it's a really great use for it. If we had a better internet connection we'd be all over it.
-Smash Brothers Brawl is pretty fun, but I wouldn't bother with the nunchuck. I find it's a little slow to use the joystick for basic movement.

DDR is a substantially better workout than Wii Fit. Wii Fit is a very lightweight workout - equivalent to going for a walk where you occasionally jog lightly for a few minutes. DDR on the other hand can really get your heart moving.

It's called Monkey Ball. The full name is "Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz". There's also one that uses the balance board called "Super Monkey Ball: Step and Roll". I haven't played either.

Alternately, if you really want to exercise -- My sister has EA Sports Active, and some of the stuff's pretty intense, apparently. I'm still not sure if it uses the balance board or not.

Oh no. Dude. Get Punch Out. That game will wear you out more than Wii Fit could ever dream of. And since you already have the balance board you can use that with it, too. If you loved the original Nintendo game (with or without Mike Tyson), all the better.

My dad lost 20 lbs boxing with the regular boxing game, and he wasn't even trying to lose weight.
