Boy, I'm glad I have my winter hiking gear. The gore tex boots and waterproof/breatheable gaiters, coupled with my waterproof/breatheable jacket and gloves of the same, I stayed nice and warm and dry as I waded out into the snow and cleaned off my car. [Big Grin]

::looks up at sky::

I wouldn't mind some more snow. But, I hate driving in it, so I'll live...

I was very very glad to get my winter boots. I needed something warm for my tootsies at camp. It was very cold there some days. But I was not cold. Two pairs of pants, leg warmers, shirt, sweater, warm jacket, mittens, BIG scarf, hat, warm boots. Toasty warm.

Socks! I just love good Socks. None of this walmart 20 pairs for a dollar Socks. I mean good $18 a pair socks. I had a leak in my drysuit and my feet got wet, but because of really good Socks I stayed very comfy. Of course SCUBA diving in 45° water has it's own challenges that don't directly correspond to winter hiking, but the princple is the same.

Oh and regarding Gortex Boots, don't forget to walk right through the middle of those puddles on the trail. Walking around only causes erosion that effects the immediate enviroment where as walking through is simply a lot of fun.

Just ask my four year old. She is a master.
