I feel stupid, but can someone explain this landmark post thing to me? Do you absolutley have to write one after a while? What does that mean if you do?

No, and it depends on what you put in it. [Edit, those are the answers to question 2 and 3. Landmarks can be found over in the Landmark thread section. They are just posts that people put up after they've been here a while, or have something important to say. They are archived after a while and are here forever.]

Gar. Why did you delete your post? Now I look like I'm overposting! Not that I'm really afraid of overposting. I've been known to post 4 or 5 times in a row. But, it's usually intentional!

Okay, since you're new here, let me just give you a tip. It's better that you look stupid than me.

Hi, gwan. You can also look for information about landmark posts in the recently-bumped FAQ (see #5).

Down load it. Use it. Then when we want to tear apart an argument, we won't be able to nitpick over spelling errors. Because, if you're here long enough, we will.
peterh, I'm glad you got it. I was afraid the n00b would think I was serious.

If you'd like to see the evolution of landmarks, this thread has them in the order written (minus two which have been deleted at their authors' request). Another brief explanation of them can be found later in the same thread. There are also comments on the concept scattered amongst the ones already written, so reading them can help, too, not that reading them for their own sake isn't already worth it. I highly recommend it to anyone.
