*brings an edible cake just for the heck of it*
It's rum cake, but the alcohol will cook out almost entirely, so it should be okay for boon to eat. I figured as long as men were being invited too, I'd bring some more food by. (actually knows how to make this cake, in theory) Though I've never been real enthused about baby showers. So maybe I'll just leave the cake and back away slowly.

If y'all are coming here, does that mean I actually have to clean the house? I haven't vaccuumed in two weeks!

Everyone write down the letters of the alphabet and for each letter think of a word that starts with that letter that has to do with a baby or baby item.
For example:
A animal crackers B blanket C crib D diaper

I have no children of my own, Boon, but I hope to some day. The only experience I have is helping to raise my little brother (he and I are 8 years apart) and lots of babysitting. As a matter of fact, I spend a summer being a nanny to two little girls a few years back.
The only advice I have for you is to not forget your support system. A religious group, friends and family. Take them up on babysitting when they offer.
Never forget that you are an individual and not just the mom with the kids, so remember to take some "you" time once in a while. Your mental health is important too.

Pfft. Shall I tell you about the "seven-pounder" who turned out to actually weigh eight and a half pounds?

Well, he was within half an ounce on the other two.
Edit: ...and if underestimating is normal, I'm in TROUBLE!

I was told by val to return, I hope I'm not supposed to entertain everybody. Because I doubt the game from my brother's bachelor party would be as popular here.

Rivka, I really don't think you're getting into the right attitude here.
Less membranes, more men in sequinned g-strings!
If nothing else, it might cause Boon to deliver out of pure embarassment when they give her the lap dance...

Imogen, having been Very Pregnant, I suspect Boon does not share your priorities. Remind me to check your opinion again in ten years or so.

It's actually a futile effort to convince myself that giving birth can be fun and games and strippers.
Otherwise, after reading all the stories here I'm not sure I will ever be up to the experience... membrane stripping? tearing? perineal massage?
All the same Boon, I'm sure it will be a great experience. And if male strippers turn up in the labour ward... well, you know who's responsible.

*giggle* Imogen, I would not have NOTICED strippers in the delivery room near the end of any of my labors.
The wonderful thing about L&D is not the fun and games (or lack of same) during the delivery. It's the fun and games that start after. <insert links to adorable baby pictures>

Hmm. I think my reaction would have been something like, "Who are those people and why are they in here? Make them leave! I'm tired."
