Not really interested myself but that is a very amazing historical piece. Awesome find. Wonder what it will finally go for?

This, the third book of Thomas More's commentary on the Tyndale Bible, appears absolutely FASCINATING: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=29223&item=6904643888&rd=1 (More's comments, in particular, are absolutely scathing, and help to elaborate on what people considered philosophy back in the day. Consider: "As so shall I, in my fourth book (God willing), as long as my time shall serve me; to confute his fallen faith, and show which is the church: that I shall leave Tyndale never a church for his flock, but the church of which the prophet speaks: 'Odiui ecclesiam malignante.' I have hated that church of malignant folk, which church is very proper for him. For all that Tyndale writeth, although it is well-colored, is powdered with malice toward all good men, both those who are reading here on earth and those saints who are reading in Heaven." The book is also remarkable for its attitude towards spelling. The word "beginning," for example, is spelled "bygynnynge." I also like More's reply to Tyndale's observation that the art of writing (and stories, in particular) clearly existed before both Abraham and Noah: "But there is in none of those stories anything to equal John's gospel....There were stories, which as Aufdale (?) says, wrote of things done thousands of years before the world was made. And even if it were proved, as it is not, that there were writings from the beginning: yet as I said before, it would not prove that there was holy scripture that time, which is the only writing which must be proved, so all else that he proved must be is as good as unproved."

That hymnal signed by Brigham Young is making my fake-o-meter alarm. It's just not going for enough money, and that signature has too many differences from the one the person shows for comparison.

*nod* The provenance is somewhat unusual, as well. On the other hand, Young would have been rather old by the time this was signed, and would presumably have signed it quickly; it's hard to go by "official" signatures, which I'm sure is part of the reason that it's going cheaply.
