Hatrack Clumps (that I can think of): Utah Florida Boston (or maybe a lot of people just visit there?) Bloomington, IN (although it's mostly breaking up as people leave for college) Chicago Southern California Arizonia (I don't know if it qualifies as a clump, but at least 4 hatrackers live there)
That was fun! I never realized how many clumps we have.

I think it would be fun to move to another country for a year or so and teach english at a school.

There's always Australia. We're fun, even without Hatrack clumps - and let's face it, you'd get a lot of travelling in trying to see us all...

The Pacific Northwest has a pretty sizable clump. Also, it's a very nice place to live. However, if you hate the rain, this is the wrong part of the country to move to.
Also, OSC rated Portland as having a great downtown area. I know you like the outdoors, and Oregon is one of the best places for outdoor activities. We have it all: mountains, coast, sand dunes, forests, high desert, and rivers. You can ski, hike, ride horses, white-water raft, drive off-road vehicles, bike, kayak, even surf if you're willing to endure the cold water.

Yeah, mack. You totally strike me as a PNW girl stuck in a New England girl's body.
Contack the Bureau of Land Management offices out here. Some of the firefighter or forest ranger positions are pretty cool, and I'm not sure that you'd need a ton of experience.
And the pictures are better out here. For reals.
I, conversely, am going through my "every 9 months" bout of wanderlust, and am probably going to move back out East.

Mack, As I have said before, I envision this hot young snowboarding instructor, hanging out in the Rockies somewhere(maybe Alta, near a Clump Area)
A good New Englander, a true New Englander, should experience the West for a while so h/she can understand , truly and deeply, why they are a northeasterner.

Assuming you get a good settlement from the exwork, you can send them postcards with a little, "Thanks! Not thinking of you!" at the bottom of each.

? I'm confused, I thought you were going back to school in the Fall to finish your Masters and start work on your PhD. If you were planning on staying at that U. then you definitely shouldn't move excessively far away.
Has this been postponed a year? And even then, I don't think you'd want to mess with the expense of moving, until after you know where you were going to end up for the PhD program.

Someone needs to move to Montana, dangit. It's got a bit of a clump - I live here, and Rabbit used to live here. Lots of outdoor stuff! People pay thousands of dollars to vacation here, and they pay me minimum wage just to work here! Who could ask for anything more?

Move to Louisville. It's cool, and there is a lot to do. As for work, I will hire you to be my personal servant. Of course, you'd have to accept less than minimum wage and be willing to sleep in the backyard.
