Okay, so I've been unpleasant to be around for the past couple of weekends, but someone's gotta do the taxes.
All the kiddies and assorted adults in my household left me alone today to finish our income taxes. We were afraid that the refund the married part of the family was due would be offset by my having sold our house in Florida. Totally forgot about the capital gains exemption for the sale of a home one has occupied for 2 of the past 5 years. Yahoo!!!!!!
Now I get to pay off one of our vehicles and a couple of stupid credit cards (including Best Buy, for the most recent computer we "had" to have). Unfortunately, I'm home by myself, and while calling my mom and telling her was pretty good, I guess I wanted to share it with the Hatrack family even more.

Half the family's was easy, and we knew we were getting a good refund from that one. I actually paid HRBlock a bunch of money to check my online return to make sure I haven't screwed up too much. Selling a house, selling ESPP stocks, and having stock option gains, ick!!!! It's easiest if you still have a copy of the instructions for the 1040, even if you file online.

We finished ours today. (Okay, we finished mine today. Ben did his a few days ago. But either way, it's good to be done.)

I still haven't gotten around to doing mine. I don't owe very much...but its not very fun to loose even a little bit of money.

Yay for you! We received our refund in our bank account last Fri. Would have been sooner, but Jeff had to wait until he got his last 1099. (They sent it out just at the deadline, apparently.)

I've done 157 tax returns year to date, including my own and a corporate return I finished yesterday.

Not kidding. Last year wasn't near this much fun, for lots of reasons.
'Bout the only bad thing that's happened was that I got a call a few days into the season from my old supervisor. He was extremely belligerent and unprofessional, ending the call with, "Well, if things don't work out there, don't call me!"
umm...like I would ever think of calling you for anything after your tirade?
As if that weren't bad enough, he didn't call me at home...he called me at the new job, where I had customers in the office and couldn't tell him what I really thought. When I told my husband about it he 'bout blew a casket.
Ah, well...the reign of corporate tyranny is lifted from my head and I feel fine.
