Well, no... I got tired of waiting for my domain registrar to answer my email so I called them up and got the information I needed to update the nameservers myself, which I did about 35 minutes ago. But now we have to actually wait for the change to ripple through all of the relevant databases, which I understand can take up to 72 hours. At this point there's nothing left to do but wait.
The rest of the site is published and the forum is installed. Once the switchover finally happens I'll be able to restore the forum database.
Oh, and I guess since this stuff is taking a long time, I wouldn't count on any of the game mailing lists to work this weekend. I'll send out a mass email to everyone on the lists once things seem to be going smoothly again.

Hey, do we need to reregister for the sakeriver forums? I just did so, but once you've restored the old forums will the old user accounts be put back into place as well?

I'm having some trouble restoring the database, but hopefully once I get it working everything will be back the way it was. Anything new registrations will be overwritten.

Um, that is very strange. I didn't have anything to do with writing those pages, as they were written by the people who make phpBB. It seems to work just fine in IE6 and Firefox. Anyone else having this problem?

This is the exact error I get on both login and logout:
quote:Not Found The requested URL /ipw-web/bulletin/bb/index.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Apache/1.3.31 Server at www.sakeriver.com Port 80
I just tried it in IE6 as well and got the following:
quote: The page cannot be found The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.
Open the www.sakeriver.com home page, and then look for links to the information you want. Click the Back button to try another link. Click Search to look for information on the Internet.

I saw this problem when I was at home. I suspect it has something to do with either local caching or a problem with the DNS not being completely propagated. What was happening was that clicking the login button was taking you to my old server instead of the new one. I don't think there's anything I can do either way, but clearing the cache might help. Or it might just go away on its own.

It's not a big deal anyway. I haven't tried it from home yet, but clearing my local cache at work didn't help so I think the DNS propagation is the more likely situation.
