On Thursday, August 12th I have a dentist appointment. As I mentioned in an earlier thread, this dentist practices sedation dentistry.
One hour prior to the appointment, I'll be taking a 0.25 miligram tablet of Triazolam. When I get there, I'll be given some liquid Midazolam to drink and an additional Triazolam tablet.
I'd like to know as much as possible about these 2 drugs before the day of the appointment.
What, exactly, are they? What do they do to the body?
I'd also like to know about possible side effects and complications.

Thanks, Farmgirl. If you're interested, I'll email you bvefore and after pictures. I seem to remember you mentioning in my other thread that you were considering sedation dentistry for your son.
Let me know if you're interested in the pictures. I'll also keep yoou posted on how it goes.

OK. I'll let you know. I'm excited about the prospect of not being awake while the woprk is being done, but a little nervous about the sedation.
The thought of waking up with a shiny new smile is pretty cool.

This thread is being bumped in the hopes that it will be seen by CT, Theca, alucard, and Hatrack's other medical types who can give me information about these 2 drugs.
Farmgirl, thanks, again for the link. I'm doing all the web research I can, but would like some assurance that these drugs won't melt my brain, or send me into orbit around the moon.

They are benzodiazepines. They calm you down, make you drowsy, and might leave you with a small gap in your memory if you take too much. If your doctor gave them to you there is likely little to worry about though.
Most benzos are a little like being drunk but not entirely. More like the relaxation of one beer.

CT, I read your post in my other thread. Again, thank you. I fully intend to ask the dentist about the meds.
Here's how it works. An hour before the appointment, I take the 0.2d miligram tablet of triazolam. When I get to the office they'll put me in the chair and give me the Midazolam in liquid form to drink along with another pill of the Triazolam. They'll be monitoring my vitals the whole time.
I'm pretty sure they understand the possible complications and how to handle them if they arise.
