Last week my wife went in for a sleep stusy.
We got the results yesterday.
They said she kicks to much in her sleep. "Resltess Legs Syndrome" is the exact phrase. Excessive leg movement may be keeping her awake. They are willing to give her a prescription for Mirapex.
My sister-in-law has found an over the counter herb that has helped her sleep and lose weight, so Cindy wants to try that first. If it doesn't work, she'll consider the Mirapex.
The study also offered to make her part of a Research Study Group on Mirapex. Free meds and free checkups and $50 per visit but she has to report to them once a week, and may end up on placebo's.
Looking through the internet she found a list of possible side effects, including things not listed on their sheet. Sudden onset of sleep, blood in urine, etc.
Anyone have any knowledge on Mirapex or on research studies?
(And Fugu, this is for Wash U.)

Tammy, we are trying to remember to get the name from my sister-in-law. I'll post it when I know. The idea is that it allows you to sleep better, making you more energetic during the day. More energetic during the day burns more calories.
TM, yes. There are a host of illnesses that can come from not getting appropriate amounts of sleep, and my wife has many of the symptoms of them. While we aren't thinking about sleeping pills, this stuff is supposed to limit the RLS.
