Somehow, I always manage to fubar my video card slot. It always gets to the point where I have to take the card in and out, wiggle it around for literally hours before I get a picture. Has happened with many different mother boards over the years. Any suggestions? It would seem like just putting in a video card wouldn't be rocket science.

As far as I know, that shouldn't happen.

Is your case routinely jostled or otherwise knocked around?

Is there anything large and vibrating near the motherboard that might account for the dislodging?

Edit: For typo

Actually, Dagonee, getting the freaking things to work is so mind numbingly boring and mundane that it gives me fits after about a half an hour and I have to take a break.

Trevor, I'm talking about just gettinga picture to begin with. I'm not talking about putting the card in, it works, and then it stops working.

I had a problem with my video card coming loose because it was connected to my Monitor cable and my cat would go back and mess with the cables behind the computer.

Have you used the same card through the various motherboards you've mentioned?

If yes, I'd suggest getting a new video card.

Nope. Different ones. Cleaned the contacts on the current one with an eraser and everything.

Well, that's the end of my ideas.

Sacrifice a chicken to the computer goblins and hope they move on to your neighbor. [Big Grin]

Ok, silly question - do you move your monitor around a lot?
