However Tuesday turns out, at least I won't have to put up with any more of those prerecorded phone calls from celebrities and political figures telling me who they think I should vote for. Seriously, I've been getting 10-12 of these a night for the last week or so. "Hi, I'm Bill Clinton..." "Hi, I'm Chris Rock..." "Hi, I'm Laura Bush..." "Hi, I'm Westley Clark..." "Hi, I'm Sarah Jessica Parker..." and on, and on, and on, night after night. The Laura Bush call is the only Republican call I've gotten, but I understand that there are quite a few of them out there; for some reason I'm just not on their call lists.

If I were truly an undecided voter, these calls would be enough to swing me away from their sponsors' candidate of choice.

The beauty of living in a county that was 90% for Bush in the last election. No one bothers calling us. [Razz]

My favorite so far has been Arnold Schwarzenegger. I can't really describe it, but it's actually a shock to hear him on the phone.

edit: I'm a registered Republican who volunteered for the Republican primaries in 2000 and who does a lot of volunteer work (i.e. am on a lot of "liberal" mailing lists) and I'm a personal friend of the son of the democrat who's running for congress in my district. I've been getting almost every single piece of political ad-mail they're sending, ecxept for maybe the abortion stuff targeted towards women. I'm thinking of using it all for insulation or something.

I am refusing to watch any television save the cartoon networks until the polls close here. I had enough when I saw the same 'go and vote' commercial three times in a row. On the same channel.

Although last night I did fall off the couch laughing at Adult Swim's mocking the commercials. They're going to play the same show 24 times tonight! [ROFL]

I got a call from Barbara Streisand last night. She didn't actually recommend anyone, she just encouraged me to vote.

I saw a guy yesterday standing on a street corner holding a Kerry sign. I don't understand that tactic. How is that going to influence anyone's vote? I can understand in local elections wanting to get the name recognition, but who doesn't already know Kerry's name?

::bangs head on keyboard:: I thought I was safe...

I just saw a commercial urging kids to bug their parents into voting.

I am so glad I live in a dorm. I don't get any telemarketer calls. [Big Grin]

Well, I'm kinda looking forward to what comes out of Alan Keyes' mouth when he has to concede defeat in the Senatorial race here. I have a feeling he won't be a gracious loser, since he's not very gracious about anything - he can make Rush Limbaugh look moderate and well-mannered.

Mayday must be watching Nickelodeon! I told my daughter that if I ever caught her nagging someone to vote as the Nick commercials tell the kids to do, I'd take away her TV priviledges for a full month.
