Call me cynical, but I find this hard to believe.
quote:
Mr Buchanan told the Australasian Sleep Association how a patient of his, who was a respectable middle-aged woman with a steady partner, would leave the house while sleepwalking and have sex with strangers.

The woman was totally unaware of her double life until her partner became suspicious and found her engaged in the act.

The ultimate excuse: I am sorry honey, I was asleep! Sleep experts back me up! I wonder if we will have a dramatic increase in sleep sex disorders now that BBC has printed this like we did in multiple personality disorder after the book Cybill.

From the research I've done on sleep disorders, it seems to be legitimate. I'm not a doctor, I'm just someone who has multiple sleep disorders and have done a lot of research.

When I was ten or eleven, I'm told that one night, I walked into the kitchen, made myself a sandwich, and had a conversation with my father as he was leaving the house on an unexpected business trip. He apparently told me where he was going and where to reach him. The next morning, my mother was surprised to find him gone and asked us if anyone knew where he was. We all said no. A week and a half later, he came home, my mother yelled at him, and he said, "But I told . . ."

When I was nineteen or twenty, I grabbed a banana just before heading to bed to read a little before sleep. I changed my mind about eating the banana and left it on my night table. The next morning, there was the peel.

Strange things can happen during sleep.

when I was in High school I had a dream that my mom was in my spanish class. The dream seemed SO real. I "woke up" in the middle of the dream and started to talk to my mom about class. I got very upset with her when she tried to tell me she wasn't in my class-- I started speaking phrases to her in spanish and everything. After about 5 minutes of this I truely woke up and was like.. what the heck.. but for those 5 minutes I could not distinguish between the dream and the reality.. it was SO wierd!!

I'm just having trouble understanding how the woman meets up with the willing strangers. Also how unaccounted for condoms wind up about the house. Yeah, this is tripping my B.S.-o-meter as well.

Seems to me that a couple of years ago or so, some guy tried to use the sleepwalking defense to get out of answering for killing his wife. It was Arizona, I think, where this happened. And I don't think the jury bought it.

On the other hand, when I was in high school I knew a girl who could walk around and carry on conversations in her sleep. Her eyes would be open and everything, but she was asleep. Once, someone had to prevent her from getting in the car and driving that way.

Me? I think I may have walked in my sleep once or twice when I was a little kid. And I've been told once or twice I've talked in my sleep. But that's the extent of it.

I don't even move in my sleep! Seriously, I've tested this out, I lay my arms out to my sides, straight on my back, and I awake in the exact same position with none of the covers so much a rumpeled. I think I look like dracula when I do this, it's great! [Wink] [Big Grin]
