Is it a blood moon, really? What is that? Because if there is such a thing as a blood moon, donl't you think it would be for Schilling of the Bloody Sock? Hmm. I kind of like the ring: Boston Blood Sox.

Why would a blood RED moon commemorate the Sox being swept? On the other hand the Cardinals are red also...

I predict cardinals in 7, just like 46 and 67... the modern gashouse gang can't beat the team that used to be the gashouse gang. Johnny Pesky takes the field at short and holds the ball on a relay thrown from manny, and rentaria scores the deciding run.

OK, the blood moon is the second full moon after the harvest moon. It means death, but is also called the Hunter's moon.
Now, the way I see it is this. The Cardinal is a bird. The Red Sox are socks, but they are worn by men. Men traditionally hunt. When they hunt they kill, spilling the red blood of their prey.
A Cardinal does not take up much room on the Thanksgiving platter, but hey, we will divide it up and have at it.

I really do want the Red Sox to win in four games. I do not want drama, I just want victory under the eclipsed Blood Moon.

But it would be soooooo funny if the cardinals won. It has to be in seven games though. Let all you sox fans think you have a chance.

See I have the benefit of NOT being a fan of either team. My home team doesn't have a chance to make it for a long time coming.

Prediction? No idea, I don't know the Cards well enough to get a sense how they'll do against the Sox.
Wish? Red Sox -- I don't mind that they beat the Yankees -- we can afford to be generous, we've won the World Series, what 26 times since 1918? ... and I REALLY wanna see Red Sox fans freak out if the Sox win

Oh yeah: but I hope the series goes 7 games, I know a lot of Cards fans, I'd hate to see them frustrated by getting swept...

(Note: just read Elizabeth's thread about a Red Sox fan getting killed after game 7 of the ALCS... so, um, I do wanna see Red Sox fans freak out, but without anyone else getting killed...)

Plaid, Thank you for some Yankee generosity. My grandmother wants the Sox to blow it badly. She has no conscience when it comes to the Yanks. If the Red Sox win(and I am taking a break right now because my nerves are shot), there will be graves galore visited in New England as grown men share the story with their grandfathers. So many generations have been tied into this almost-winning team. Men will be crying all over the state, no, the region! OK, going back upstairs now.

Since the sox are winning 9-7 now. But Womack just got nailed in the clavicle by a base hit and had to exit the game.

Newfoundlogic, That would be what the OLD Red Sox would do. Now, it is a new century. There will be an eclipse. The moon is called a Blood moon, after Schilling;s bloody sock. My son has stopped wearing the UNlucky red underwear. Don't you see the signs????? It was all about the Twentieth Century, that's all.

Sox win the first 3 games, then lose the next 4, becoming the second team in over 100 years to blow a 3-0 lead, and the first to do so in a World Series.

I just don't think this team is going to fold. I think people will complain about how oring the Series was, because the Sox just went right out and won it, without giving us all the usual near heart attacks. (OK, except for last night)
Big Papi don't play that way, Dag. He is a clutch man, and he will save the day, even before it needs to be saved. The first preemptive day saver in history.

This is defnitely looking like a seven games series. Cardinals went 0-3 at Houston and 4-0 at home. I expect them to sweep the homestand, Boston to win game 6, and Boston's sanity (well whatever is left of it) resting on game 7.
