...How are you doing? Is your wrist getting better? How about the job search?

Sorry if you've posted about it and I've missed it... I was just listening to your album, and wondered if you could play again yet. A quick search on your user ID and sprain or wrist didn't turn up anything.

I'm okay. Tired, but okay. Thanks for asking, I really appreciate it. [Smile]

I have a job offer. It's not quite Vancouver, but it's a step closer to Australia. [Smile] The company makes synthetic rubber in southern Ontario, right on the border with Michigan. Not too far from Detroit and Chicago, actually.

My wrist is mostly recovered in terms of range of motion and flexibility, but my chops are gone. I have been slowly getting back into things on the guitar and the piano, and have resumed work on a collection of rough cover songs that I wanted to do after getting back from NZ. I'm even working on my singing [Cool]

I might post some of them later. When they're done. I was initially hoping to do an EP-style thing, but I really wanted to record my favourite piano pieces and unfortunately I don't have any way of doing that without getting dismal sound quality. So for now it's just a fun project. [Smile]

[Smile] I'm glad to hear you're alright. And it sounds like that'll be a full recovery on the wrist? That's great. [Smile]

Are you thinking you'll take the job offer, then? "Not too far from Detroit and Chicago" sounds like a step closer to TwinkyCon 2006. [Wink]

Heh. I actually don't much like the idea of a gathering in my honour. Amusingly, when I come home to visit my parents, I don't really call anyone. Gradually word percolates around that I'm back and people start calling me to do stuff, but my arrival usually occurs under cover of darkness. [Wink]

Anyway, I know you're kidding, but it just made me think of the stealth visits. I am not terribly good at keeping people informed of my whereabouts and plans; I have a tendency to just do what I want without telling anyone. [Razz]

I'm probably going to accept the offer tomorrow. If I do, I start in mid-March, so it gives me time to do something fun between now and then. A few plans have been brewing in the back of my mind.

The wrist will hopefully recover fully. What's most affected is actually the pinky finger of my left hand, which if I wasn't a musician wouldn't be a big deal at all, but when I first sat down at the piano I had to strain to even play octaves in the left. That might seem silly, but my normal reach is actually an eleventh. I have really long fingers. So having trouble with octaves was quite disheartening. But I plodded away at the Moonlight Sonata and once I was comfortable with that I moved on to more difficult things, and now I can at least make it through all of my old pieces (just not well). I'm glad things are moving along. [Smile]
