First, I didn't know about the stupid thing until yesterday, AFTER I got back from WallyWorld.
So I had to make a special trip today, since Jen's party is this afternoon.
Then I started thinking, what if a couple of kids don't (or can't) bring anything? So I pick up, not one, but four gifts. And wrapping paper. And bows. And tape.
Then I come back home to wrap them. Then Dan calls. I have to bring cookies for his party too. CRAP! So now I have to go to the grocery store before I go to the school.
And did I mention that the parties are at NOON because they get out at ONE today?!?

Boon, it comes with the territory, I think. My son finally bothered to tell me last night that there was a gift exchange in his class today. I knew about food he was supposed to bring because one of the moms in his class called around to get us to sign up. So I had his chips and dip all ready.
By this time of year I usually have a few extra generic gifts hanging around for just such surprises, but with the plague decimating our house the past three weeks (I'm still battling it...I sound like a dying horse) I haven't had time to build up my stockpile. So I was like you...running to the store at the last minute to find something suitable. I hate that. But I think I'm going to hate it more when my kids are grown and out of the house.
