The Simpsons totally called this one!

quote:
Fossil remains show that dolphins and whales were four-footed land animals about 50 million years ago and share the same common ancestor as hippos and deer. Scientists believe they later became aquatic mammals and their hind limbs disappeared.
Incidentally, did everyone catch the new trailer for the Simpsons Movie?

I have to say, I wasn't planning on seeing this right away, but the trailer is hysterical. My mother, who HATES The Simpsons was laughing so hard at the trailer she almost choked to death.

The CGI parody is funny, but the rest of the trailer plays with my fears that like the current episodes of the TV series, the film will mostly be Homer doing pratfalls.

I dunno, I really liked the rock and a hard place joke. I thought that was rather clever, and I didn't even notice it the first time.

Homer doing pratfalls is when The Simpsons started being funny again for me.

Interesting article, Lyrhawn. Thanks for posting it.

That said, the related article was way more amusing. Scientist: Dolphins Are Stupid.

Yeah, I actually saw the dolphin thing on a Japanese news site a week or so back. It was fairly interesting to see pictures of the thing.

As for the Simpsons movie, I've got a wait and see attitude. The beginning part of the trailer was funny, and initially even the pratfall stuff was funny. What stops making it funny is when it just goes on and on without stopping, which this started to do. I once told someone I felt this way about Family Guy too (a gag that would be funny lasting too long so that it's not funny anymore). I was told that for some people it goes funny, (as time goes on) not funny, (as time continues to go on) funny again. I just don't fall into that category though. It's funny initially, but if you drag it out you're just making me yawn and say "So what's next?"

EDIT: Here's the Japanese article I was referring to (with picture of the dolphin). http://mdn.mainichi-msn.co.jp/national/archive/news/2006/11/05/20061105p2a00m0na015000c.html

Honestly, I'm really skeptical of the Simpsons Movie. The show just hasn't held my interest in a long time. What I'm really looking forward to are the Futurama movies that are supposed to be coming out, the first of which is due out around next Christmas.

Yeah, this trailer didn't really grab me. Just looks like the episodes have been for the last couple of years.

I wish it weren't true, but the Simpsons stopped being funny for me about 10 seasons ago.

It's never been consistently funny to me. But I don't necessarily think it is any more or less funny than it was the first season.

"In 2D!"

That was my favorite line.
