I could not find the right starter page, so I typed in U2. Go Annie, go Annie!

Try it and report your success rate.

I went 10 for 10 on Donna the Buffalo songs.

On the Moody Blues edition, I got 10 out of 10 with an average speed of 4.4 seconds. The average scores for other players were 9 out of 10 and 9.1 seconds. Heh heh. [Big Grin]

The average scores for the Buffalo Springfield edition were 7/10 and 5.8 seconds. My score was 10/10 and 3.4 seconds. I like this game. [Big Grin]

Edit: Holy crap. People suck at the Dire Straits edition. The average is 8/10 and 28.3 seconds. Mine was 10/10 and 3.6 seconds. Though to be honest, one of them was a freebie because there was an error in one of the files.

9/10 in an average of 3.3 seconds on the Pink Floyd version. Not bad if you consider that most Pink Floyd songs don't really start until 6 or 7 minutes into the song. [Wink]

that's fast frisco.

I got 9/10 on my first try but in like 5.6 seconds.

my second try i got it down to 4.8, but only got 8/10.

the average is 11.1 though. So i figure i'm in the top percentile. [Smile]

The last one I got was "Speak To Me". I waited for a few seconds for the song to start, then realized that it probably already did and clicked.

I did Hootie & The Blowfish 10/10 in 3 seconds flat.

Pearl Jam, 10/10 2.2 seconds.

my problem with things like this is that alot of times I don't know the name of a song. If the album is really good on the whole, I listen to the whole album through every time and never bothered learning the names of some songs. So in some cases I'll have to look at which album each song is from before i can make my decision. This is true of almost any band I listen to.

Yeah, I was the same way until I ripped all my cd's onto my computer. Now, the song name scrolls by every time I listen to it.

It sucks that we can't have a Beatles showdown. Wonder what their "copyright reasons" are.

edit: you can go by genre, too...although their definition of "classic rock" contains waaaaay too much Rod Stewart.

I just looked at the "Last 50" for game ideas, and saw a friend of mine, Ben Jelen. Last I talked to him, he was in Teen People after his first CD came out...now he's hit the big time! An internet list!

Oh, and I wouldn't go flaunting that Hootie score around...

I've got 9/10 for U2 at an average speed of 3.3s. The "World" has 8/10 at 10.5s!!! [Eek!]

Anyway, I got two of them by selecting the one I didn't know. I knew all the other 3 and it wasn't any of them... [Big Grin] The one time I didn't guess I got 3 choices I didn't know and only one I knew, so I gambled. Tough luck.

Edit: Uh, I just saw Frisco's average for Pink Floyd! Wow! [Hail]

Come on! GnR or Hootie? is that really a choice?

I tried to do The Doors, but it combines them with 3 Doors Down. So I pretty much had to guess on all of those. still managed 8/10 with 4.1s.

I think after Pink Floyd and the Beatles is where our tastes diverge, Greg. I, personally, think The Doors are one of if not the most overrated bands in Classic Rock. [Razz]

I think we have more crossover than that. Remember how much fun i had with your laptop at John's? But you're right, there is some divergence. I don't put The Doors up with The Beatles or Floyd, but they are up there on my list.

I love this site! I did the Moody Blues edition, 10/10 with 3.3s!! I was impressed with the listed tracks because it contained "Go Now", core 7, and one from the latest album "December". I have to share this site with my Moodies' friend!
Thank you!

I tried "Queen" and I got "Queen" AND "Queen Latifah"!!! [ROFL]

Edit: Well, I tried it even like that and scored 9/10 with 3.1s average. There were only 2 "Queen Latifah" choices in all the game and none of them was actually played. (Yeah, I made an error on a real "Queen" song, so sue me!)

A second U2: 10/10 in 3s. [Cool]

This reminds me of a trip where we had all sorts of team contests. And at the end my team was in a tie for 4th place and we had to recognize one song to see who goes 4th and who 5th. Unfortunately we had to pick only one person to go and try to answer. As it turned out we picked the wrong one! [Smile] I think I heard about 1s of it and I knew it was "Bittersweet symphony", and nobody else seemed to have got it that fast. Oh well, that'll teach me to volunteer for stuff like that next time!

And a 10/10 in 3.5s for Roxette.

And I realized I don't know enough Marillion, Bon Jovi, Phil Collins or Rolling Stones...

And 9/10 on Pink Floyd. They didn't write the average speed though, I have no idea why... Probably just a bug.

Anyway, I got:
10/10 on Bruce Springsteen
5/10 for Bob Dylan(major shameful head-hanging)

Frou Frou: 10/10 4.4 seconds. Of course, it helps that they have but one album... Except that all the songs on the album sound vaguely similar...

James Taylor: 10/10 7.5 seconds. One or two messed up my average. :/

Wallflowers: 9/10 6.2 seconds. Could have gotten that one right if I had paid more attention and taken more time. :/

Tenacious D: 10/10 3 seconds. Wahaha. I'm kind of ashamed that I got that score. [Razz]

U2 7/10, but all three I missed were on the new album, which I don't really know yet

Rush 10/10 and I'm sure I didn't go over 2 seconds on any of them... but it didn't give me average times for either one.

DMB 10/10.

A-Ha 8/10... anyone think they can do better with A-Ha? (does anyone even *want* to?)

Jim-Me, I'm willing to try A-ha, but a little later. And while I like many of their songs* I'm quite sure I'm not an A-ha pro... [Dont Know]

*"Velvet", "Thought that it was you", "I wish I cared", "Stay on these roads" are some of my favorites.

8/10 for U2, and 9/10 for Rush (missed one from the new album of cover tunes, dangit).

I'm amazed at how many different artists they have to work from, they had both Paul Kelly and Peter Mulvey...

I'm not a fan of the timing system though, because I'm on stinking dialup. My U2 score was 10/10 in 101 seconds... not my fault!

Annie, the "101" seconds is a bug of the website. Actually, you've got 30 sec to guess per song - I don't know what happens if you don't, but I assume it just goes to the next. So an average of 101 sec is kind of impossible. I've got 100 once when the timers didn't start for some of the songs, that's probably what happened to you too.

I do have to say that when they pull tunes from their library for the tests, they don't always get the same artist.

In the case of Paul Kelly, there's both an Aussie singer/songwriter and a Chicago R&B guy with the same name. Two or three times, they had the R&B guy in the test I took. (It was kind of easy to pick out his music...).

Lots of jambands n there: String Cheese, Max Creek, Railroad Earth.

And sooo unfair in the Grateful Dead category. One song is not even a song, just a countdown, must be at a New Year's show. Plus, everyone knows Dead fans don't listen to the albums, sheesh.

This thing is awesome. So far I have gotten a 10/10 on everything I've tried, but I've been doing bands like the refreshments, the clarks, reel big fish, guster, and five iron frenzy, so I'm not sure how much that counts for. I'm just amazed I can do the clarks and stuff like that. It isn't like they are popular by any stretch of the imagination!

Fans, and also people who listen enough of the song to realize which is the right title. I'm sure it doesn't work for all of the guesses, but probably it does for quite a lot. The key is to also look at the average speed - that is, when the site doesn't bug and does provide it - and you'll see stuff like: 10-15-20 sec...

The Corrs, I'm 10/10 4.3 seconds. It's that one stinking album that ruined my timing.

Simon and Garfunkel 10/10 3.4 seconds. Ugh, they took a bunch of tracks from the recent live album. The horror!!

Well, I tried A-Ha. After I kind of guessed 2 out of 4, knew 1, and had no idea about the 4th I gave up.

On the other hand I found out that if you press Escape just when the page loads it will say that they don't have the song and they're giving that round for free. I "managed" a U2 10/10 in 0 sec. [Big Grin]
