I need an approximate time for Friday. I need to know if and for how long I can work my night job, and they like to know ahead of time. Thanks!

Oooooh, sorry, I forgot to check my hotmail last night... we're planning on leaving here between 6:30 and 7:00 AM. It's a 12 hour drive, plus stops, but we tend not to waste much time at stops when it's just Dad & me. So that would put us there sometime after 7:00 PM, but there's an hour time change, too, so that would make it after 8:00... I don't know where we're staying yet, either, I need to take care of that. So far it looks like just you & me... the bike is in New Albany, which looks to be somewhat north of Columbus proper? So we'll probably be staying towards the north/west part of town.

Does that help? I'll make sure to check hotmail tonight, and you already said you sent your cellphone number there, so I'll be able to update you how we're doing when we're getting close, or if we have a major delay.

That does help a bit. Would it be reasonable to plan for sometime after 9?

New Albany is northeast. However, you probably ought to find a hotel close to the interstate you'll be using to get home so you can just hop on it in the morning. I can point you toward the right part of town to look for. Will you be coming (going) 70 or 71? (edit) Looks like 70. I'll see what I can find for you.

9 would probably be accurate.

We're picking the bike up in the morning, so we won't just be hopping on the interstate... but a hotel on it would mean we could just hop off it when we get in Friday night.

Thanks for looking! A native eye is always helpful. [Smile]

In general, for a place to "hop off" Friday night that is relatively convenient in relation to New Albany, I would suggest the Hilliard area. This is right around where 70 meets the outer belt 270. You could take 270 around to New Albany and back again to go home. There are some "Point A to Point B" routes in Columbus that are just not expedient. Hilliard is the best bet logistically and it's not ghetto.

Here are a couple ideas:
Super 8
Red Roof Inn

fiazko -- How about (nevermind) place? It's close to where we have to pick up the bike, so we wouldn't have to drive as far in the morning. Is there somewhere nearby we could get together? And is the neighborhood okay?

Edit: That didn't come up right... lemme look a bit more...

Hmmmmm. Westerville or Reynoldsberg are look like the best options. Let me know what you think, please...?

Sorry I missed you last night. I hope it's not too late. Reynoldsburg is pretty far out of the way. It looks like your best bet is near the airport. It's right off of 270 and just a few miles from 161.

This is the cheapest one on the list, but here is everything that popped up. Don't let the fact that it's right by the airport scare you as far as getting lost. It's all one road. I don't know how obnoxious the planes will be, but it shouldn't be too bad overnight. Let me know if you need anything else.

fiazko -- Here's the deal... the trip looks like it's going to take longer than we thought, so we're leaving earlier, but we didn't make reservations because if we're hurting when we're getting close we're going to stop at the Hillard Super 8, otherwise head on the the airport Cross Country. We'll call you after we pass Dayton and let you know how we're doing. I've got your cell number written down. [Smile] See you tomorrow!

Hey, ElJay. It was a thought, but looks like it's a no go. You guys have fun, though, and take LOTS of pictures.
