A few months ago.

I'm on MSN, chatting with my oldest brother. He mentions it in passing because, he says, he assumed that brother 2 would have sent me an email.

Nope.

This is the first I've heard.

Apparently, he called up our parents the day he got married to let them know that he was married.

I'm seeing a trend... This is what my sister did. And, well, I never actually told my parents - they found out from the sibs or other aunts, but that's just cuz I've disowned my parents.

But we seem to have a habit of eloping and/or doing quickie weddings in our family.

Anyway, I know the woman's name, first only, and that he's from my brother's church. And that's it.

On the other hand, this isn't overly surprising - the fact that he didn't tell me. After all, this is the same brother who thinks my church is a cult, that I'm going to burn in hell, I'm a satan worshipper, and, oh yes, my favorite, that I, personally am the anti-Christ. Yeah, can't imagine why, but we just haven't been as close since he spewed that stuff at me. [Roll Eyes]

On the other other hand, it is surprising - the fact that he got married. No one knew that he was even dating. He was married once before back in, let me see, 1985-1987. So it's been a while.

Anyway. There ya go. Only one sibling left who's single.

You know, the funny thing is that when my sister got married in, um, about 2000, that was a huge surprise. She wasn't dating anyone either. At that point, the whole lot of us were unmarried. I figured for sure the whole lot of us would remain unmarried cuz we were all so pathetic at anything resembling relationships. I was stunned, nay, shocked, when I heard my sister got married. I was even more stunned when I got married. Now brother 2. What's next? Is brother 1 going to... Nah. I don't think I can even go there... [Eek!]

What is this world coming to?

quid, admit it. You know you, personally, are the anti-Christ. [Razz]

At least, that's what you told us minions at the last meeting.

Duh! [Wall Bash]

I think I need a holiday. All these... surprises are a shock to my system. [Eek!] Maybe a nice tour of the seven gates of hell would be in order.

Oh, that gets so boring, though! Why not try to sneak into Heaven and see how long it takes to get kicked out?

Better idea: why not doing something truly evil, particularly with Hollywood?

You could send him a heartfelt and sincere "I hope you two will be very happy" congratulations card and blow his theories out of the water. There's nothing like a halo to ruin the devil's image.

A big motivation, I suppose, to letting the parents in on the impending nuptuals thing is the hope that they will foot the bill. If they have no intention of that, well, I guess it would be easier to keep them out of the loop.

Can I borrow some of your minions? I could use a hand with cleaning out the basement, and I have no minions of my own.

That's like how I found out my sister got married. I was in high school - on a band trip to Disney World (of all places!) and when I got back she stuck her hand in front of my face and said " look what I did while you were gone!" I saw the ring and thought : just who on earth did she marry? She wasn't dating anyone that I knew of. I was right. She met a guy while in the Army and they decided to get married and just did it on the spur of the moment. Now they are seperated and getting a divorce (with 3 kids), but let me say this...it's better this way. There father is a real jerk! My mother would have KILLED me if I had even thought of eloping! She didn't get to do the mother of the bride thing with my sister, so she really wanted to do it with me, and since I am the perfect child, I of course allowed her to rule as mother of the bride for the big day! (Actually, I had always wanted the church wedding withthe family and friends around and all that, and since I love my mom and we are good friends, it was great for both of us. My "other mother" as I call Kwea's mom (my mother-in-law) didn't get to really do too much of the mother of the bride stuff with Kwea's sister's wedding because it was on the other side of the state from her, and I lucked out and got an awesome other mother, so I invited her to be involved in all of my stuff too!So it really worked out for all of us!

Oh, for the update.

I found out that my brother actually did send out an email announcing his marriage and the fact that he took on his wife's last name.

Well, can't say I blame him for taking her name - ours was in the range of difficult to obnoxiously impossible to deal with. I just find it interesting that my brother is... progressive in this regard.

I'm also not overly surprised that he didn't email me with the news. After all, I didn't email him when I got married. It's just petty retaliation, I'm willing to bet. Or because I'm not worthy of knowing, you know, what with me being the Anti-Christ and all. [Razz]
