Even though I could email you about this, I feel that you need to be brought forth as real, and that your beautiful town deserves its own thread.
Our plans have changed, due to the fact that we cannot get the kids into the Rongo. Grrr.
So, we are going out to visit a friend in Syracuse Saturday, and coming out to the Ramada on Sunday. These are the possibilities for meeting:
1. At the hotel Sunday, at the pool or in the room, or at the award-winning brunch which, I think, goes until 2. 2. At Maxie's for Crow Greenspun. Their menu looks great and kind of cheap(at least not as pricey as I thought)This would be a way for you to FINALLY check out the fabulous music in your town, where we have talked about moving to just because of the music. 3. Monday morning for breakfast. I know you work, but I could meet you early for breakfast, or even for an early lunch before we leave.

Thank you, Narnia. Now where is that Zeugma? i will take this time to post one of my favorite poems:
Ithaka C.P.Cavafy
As you set out for Ithaka hope your road is a long one, full of adventure, full of discovery. Laistrygonians, Cyclops, angry Poseidon-don't be afraid of them: you'll never find things like that on your way as long as you keep your thoughts raised high, as long as a rare excitement stirs your spirit and your body. Laistrygonians, Cyclops, wild Poseidon-you won't encounter them unless you bring them along inside your soul, unless your soul sets them up in front of you.
Hope your road is a long one. May there be many summer mornings when, with what pleasure, what joy, you enter harbors you're seeing for the first time; may you stop at Phoenician trading stations to buy fine things, mother of pearl and coral, amber and ebony, sensual perfume of every kind- as many sensual perfumes as you can; and may you visit many Egyptian cities to learn and go on learning from their scholars.
Keep Ithaka always in your mind. Arriving there is what you're destined for. But don't hurry the journey at all. Better if it lasts for years, so you're old by the time you reach the island, wealthy with all you've gained on the way, not expecting Ithaka to make you rich. Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey. Without her you wouldn't have set out. She has nothing left to give you now.
And if you find her poor, Ithaka won't have fooled you. Wise as you will have become, so full of experience, you'll have understood by then what these Ithakas mean.
Well, this is probably for the better, since both Mark and I came down with a pretty nasty stomach flu bug this week, and we're still not 100% yet. Plus the poor pup is taking a while to get back on her feet after Monday's spay surgery. So we're not in great shape at home.
I should be feeling better by this weekend, though, so I'm sure we can find something to do! Are you staying out by the airport/mall? Brunch might be an option... and are you still interested in checking out the ScienceCenter?

Zeugma, I think we are staying at the ramad, but not near the airport. (I am not sure anymore, except that they have this award-winning brunch.)
I think, unless we come into Ithaca earlier on Sunday(unlikely because my husband will be with us and he is an AM slug), the only time we could probably do it would be Monday morning, and I know you have to work.

Zeugma: Phew! One would think I would have thought of that before now, since we are leaving at noon!

I might be here. I'm either leaving on Friday or Saturday to go home. It's kind of up in the air right now.

Well, we are still not sure, either, at this point. It would certainly be very mature of us not to go.

Oh shoot! We've actually going to a holiday party that night!
Big congrats to your son, though, that's awesome! Hope you enjoy your brief time in Ithaca, looks like it's going to warm all the way up to the 30s by then! Posts: 1681 | Registered: Jun 2004

It's supposed to snow on Friday too. But, if it does, that means I'll be here, so if you still come in, let me know. I'll give you my cell # via email or something.

I'm coming back tomorrow! And the Lost Dog is oh so close to where I live, within walking distance, so I'll definately be able to make that. And something Sunday morning sounds good too.

Sunday brunch sounds great! Do you have any places in mind? The DeWitt Mall, once an elementary school, has an interesting little brunch place in the former cafeteria, and Just a Taste and Maxie's are always popular for brunch... and up the hill a little, ABC and the new Carriage House Cafe have great choices.... what do y'all think? I don't live in Ithaca. However, I do live in NY (at the moment), and have no problem driving. I just can't drive that far this weekend. Unfortunately with the weather and all it would make it impossible for me to be able to do this safe. My tires don't know the definition of traction. Well, they know enough to get to work and back.
S'all right. I'm here for a couple more years and I have a few road trips planned later this year in which I might be in a neighborhood near you.

I'll have to see. I just got back from my parents house, yesterday so I'm not sure what things look like yet.

Kojabu, if you're near the commons, I can pick you up. You'll be on my way to Maxies (I'm out in the Commonland townhouses, if you know where they are).
Neat! Their BBQ Tofu can't be beat. Posts: 1681 | Registered: Jun 2004
