I’ve been lucky enough to be offered a skiing holiday at Winter Park, Colorado with my boyfriend as my mum and her friend couldn’t go at the last minute.

Since the holiday is for 10 days we thought we might spend a day or two at the end in Denver. We are both beer lovers and would like to explore some of the microbreweries.

We’ve got hardly any time to research as we are going on Wednesday, so has any one got any recommendations about where the must go to places are?

16st St. Mall is definitely a great place to hang out in Denver. It's an almost mile long stretch of shops, restaurants, and bookstores. Including several breweries. Do not miss Tattered Cover Bookstore (it's huge). There's also a movie theater and a big Virgin Records store.

While in Winter Park, I recommend you eat at Hernando's Pizza (which is on the far end of town, heading towards Frasier). It's good stuff, and Winter Park doesn't have much in the way of restaurants.

Thanks. I remember not being very impressed with the restaurants in Winter Park before, so we’ll definitely give your recommendation a go.

I don’t think my boyfriend will thank you for mentioning a huge bookstore though, he might loose me there for a while!

It is his first time skiing, so I’m hoping he loves it as much as I do.

Winter Park is a great resort to learn at; they have good instructors and a ton of easy terrain.

I lived there for a year, so if you need to know anything I can probably help you out.
