I hope he went peacefully, and that his death brings nearer the regional peace he was unwilling to pursue.

While the article voices an appropriate concern about unsettling efforts to clarify national roles in ethnic violence, Milosevic also remained a rallying figure for a troubling political element in Serbia. With his death that element may fragment and become unable to effectively oppose stabilizing reforms.

Oy, that guy.

You know, some of my earliest TV memories involve news reports from Somalia and Bosnia.

Probably the oldest memory I have is one of Mr. Rogers talking about Gulf War I. "You're all safe here," or something like that. Couldn't have been more than 2 at the time | :

Wow, that was a long trial. I honestly didn't realize that is was still going on.

I found this qute a little strange:
quote:

"Unfortunately, he did not face justice for crimes he has committed in Kosovo as well," Kosovo's Deputy Prime Minister Lufi Haziri said in Pristina.

AFAIK, at most he was looking at spending the rest of his life in prison, which is pretty much what ended up happening. I can see them being dissapointed in not having time to get a conviction, but really he faced about all the justice he was going to get.

My last finished music composition was named for Srebrenica (read about the massacre). Sorry there are no recordings of it. Needless to say, it was atonal and ugly I thought it fitting for the event.
