I've been even scarcer than usual recently due to the end of my final term of my B.A. I wrote my last exam on the 6th (ironically, not at my actual university), but that was not the end.

Since then, I've been glued to my computer day and frequently night. Today I finished.

Today I handed in the largest paper I've ever written (54 pages), the thing I have practically dedicated the last eight months of my life to. I've worked so hard to get it done by today, and I can't believe it's over. You think I would be sick to death of it, and I really do need a bit of a guilt-free break from it, but I find myself with a certain affection for the topic now. I'm actually glad that this summer I will have a chance to work further on one particular section and expand it. I feel like I could spend the next two to three years on the topic and just scratch the surface of it. I'm just thrilled to have a topic that no one else has done, to have made a real discovery.

I've come home to academia, and I love it. I can't wait to start my M.A. and dive even deeper into this world.

And I just had to celebrate.

Cheers!

Because I am very very creative after two all-nighters in a row, the title of the paper is "An Analysis of the Usage of Hermes Trismegistus in the Expositio super elementationem theologicam Procli of Berthold von Moosburg".

I was looking at how a 14th century Dominican theologian used the pagan Egyptian philosopher Hermes Trismegistus to back up his theological statements, how he viewed this Hermes, and some of the manuscript traditions.

Not exhaustive by ANY means, but I'm proud of it.

Hmm. Sounds kind of theoretical to me. Your paper needs a good experimental section to liven it up! Did you try out any of the suggested alchemical experiments?

Nah, I was focusing on the philosophical Hermetica, rather than the technical. There's not much of an experimental test for "God is a monad."

Congrats!

I'm doing my undergraduate thesis for my BA next year (well, technically its already begun to consume my life.) Its nice to hear success stories. Usually all I hear about are the seniors who've broken down and are found playing gameboys out in random fields at midnight.

And bigger congrats on taking it further! I can't imagine not being alittle burned out after something that intense. You'll go far with passion like yours!

Oh, I am definitely a little burnt out. I've got a bit of a holiday coming, and that was the big push, to get it done before. I didn't want to bring it with me, physically or mentally.

But in a couple weeks, after summer work boredom has settled in, I'll be glad to take another look at it.
