Nathan is having a 48-hour diagnostic video-EEG starting tomorrow at noon. Any and all positive thoughts for a smooth procedure, clear results, and patience on the part of all bodies would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, all! We're home safe and sound. All did indeed go smoothly, helped in great part I am sure by your kind thoughts and prayers. The medical staff were skilled, kind, and funny -- and the volunteers they have on hand are just wonderful folks!

Nathan is a very patient young man -- he was pretty much confined to his hospital bed, with short excursions to the bathroom, for the duration. Of course, it was made fun in that he got to eat pretty much whatever he wanted, watch all sorts of TV and movies (which are strictly rationed and limited at home), and got to play Nintendo (the real winner!)

I got to stay up and chart observations and click buttons and try to sleep on a really uncomfortable chair-bed and eat nasty, expensive hospital cafeteria food. When I have some disposable income, I am donating it to a pediatric ward for parental comfort needs. *grin*

So, why the 48-hour diagnostic? We're attempting to ascertain to what extent seizure activity may or may not be continuing, particularly at night/sleep-time.

I am trying to remember that it's God's will first, but I would so like to get back a clean bill of health for Nathan, so we can get him off his anti-seizure medications.

The side effects of his current medications are pretty intimidating, and with dangerous consequences. Yet, it's the first med to have controlled the life-threatening status seizures he has experienced . . .

I didn't read this in time to pray prior to the testing, Shan, but I will be praying for Nathan going forward, that his seizures will be relieved.

I just saw this too. What a long road you and Nathan have had! I'll keep him in prayer- what a blessing it would be if he could get off the meds.
