So I tried to sell a PSP on ebay. The first auction went ended and I received an e-mail from the buyer asking me to send an invoice for shipping to Nigeria. (red flag when the word Nigeria is mentioned in an e-mail) I send the invoice and receive an e-mail from PayPal saying I have funds waiting. The catch is, I was logged into PayPal and did not see a payment. The buyer was a fisher trying to get a free PSP and my password to PayPal.
I relist the PSP and the auction ends. I hear nothing from the buyer. Three weeks go by and I finally report an unpaid item to ebay. After four weeks, I finally get an e-mail from the buyer. I have to put it in quotes here, because it would take longer to describe it.
"Look i am so sorry for what happen. On the 14 of November I was arrested for a drug warrent. Someone used my name to get out of jail, and did not show to court. I was there for 14 days till I could get a laywer there to get out. I am sorry for the trouble, and now my account is suspended. I will pay for the item if i can, or buy another one from you, or give you some money to lift the strike. I have documents from the jail I can send to proves this. Please work with me on this, untill three weeks ago I had a solid reputation, and i would like to get it back that way. thank you"
Has this guy had a string of bad luck or what. Spending 14 days in the pokie for someone elses mistake has got to suck.

Ask him if he's going to pay you with a cashier's check for over the amount and have you send the extra money back with the PSP.
EDIT: I just realized you were talking about the guy that won the second aution. That really sucks for him...
